Christmas Wishes - Paris Schaul, Activity Professional Its that time of year again! Good Neighbor Society is looking forward to the holiday season and are excited to announce the 2nd Annual Christmas Wishes Program kickoff! Although Christmas may look different than in past years, we are dedicated to making this holiday season special. We have asked what they would really like for Christmas this year and recorded it on a wish ticket. We are reaching out to our loving community to help us make these wishes come true! Last year, community members picked up resident wish list scrolls off of a Christmas moose. This year, the wish ticket system will be virtual! If you are interested in making resident/tenant wishes come true, please email Paris at [email protected] or call 563-927-3907 ext. 309. Thank you for your generosity this holiday season! Resident Profile - Don & Mary Ann Digmann Our highlighted residents for October are Don and Mary Ann Digmann. Don was born on April 26, 1935 in Hopkinton. He graduated from Hopkinton High School in 1954. Baseball was a favorite pastime of Don’s, and he pitched and played first base for the Hopkinton town baseball team until he was 30. Don worked grinding feed after finishing high school before serving in the U.S. Army from 1958-1959 in Okinawa, Japan. Don also enjoyed fishing and is especially proud of catching a 35-pound catfish!

Mary Ann was born on July 25, 1939 in Ryan. She graduated from Dundee High School in 1957. After high school, Mary Ann worked at Widner’s in Manchester and shared an apartment with friends. She served as Maquoketa

Valley Athletic Boosters President while her children were in high school.

Don and Mary Ann married on March 5, 1962, during a big snowstorm. Together they farmed near Hopkinton until 1998. They shared the outside work, and Mary Ann did everything Don did except cultivating. Mary Ann especially enjoyed working in the fields. Don and Mary Ann also enjoy bluegrass music and traveled to Arkansas and Missouri to listen to it live. They have three children: Christine (Mike) Alger of Lancaster, PA; Tom Digmann of Milledgeville, IL; and Tim Digmann of Cedar Rapids. Don and Mary Ann have four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Don and Mary Ann are members of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Hopkinton. Don enjoys reading the newspaper each day along with doing the crossword and sudoku puzzles in each day’s paper. He also loves watching sports, especially when the Cubs are playing! Mary Ann likes watching Law & Order SUV and sports. Along with

Meet New Patient Care Coordinator- Sara Wilwert, BNS, RN With background in customer service management, training and administration at McLeodUSA, PepsiAmericas, and TOMY International and experience as CNA and LPN at MercyOne Senior Care (Oakcrest Manor) in Dyersville then skilled/acute

inpatient rehabilitation at MercyOne in Dubuque, Sara is excited to lead R2H (new GNS rehab-to-home wing), in helping individuals regain independence. In 2014, she married her “college sweetheart” and they live in Dyersville. Her 17-year-old daughter, a senior at Western Dubuque, also wishes to pursue a career in nursing. Her husband has a daughter and granddaughter who live in NC. They have a feisty Yorkshire Terrier named Oliver. Their family loves Iowa football and domestic travel especially to national parks. They recently explored the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon and Rocky Mountain National Park. In 2011, Sara went back to school to pursue a degree in nursing to give back in a direct care role, helping people find optimal levels of wellness. She looks forward to joining our community and getting to know each and every person we serve. Please join us in welcoming Sara to the team!
