SUNDAY SCHOOL 9:30 WORSHIP SERVICE 10:30
From the Colemine
Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Jeshanah, and named it Ebenezer; for he said, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.” 1 Samuel 7:12 In our hymnal on page 400 is the song, “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”. In the second verse of the song are the words, “Here I raise mine Ebenezer…” People often ask, “What in the world is an Ebenezer?” Well, this comes from First Samuel 7:12 where Samuel placed a stone of remembrance for what God had done for the people. It is also the name of a town or city found in First Samuel. We might also think of Ebenezer Scrooge from the Charles Dickens story “A Christmas Carol”. The word “Ebenezer” means stone of help. There are several times that the people would pile up stones to remember a significant event where God had helped his people. It reminds us that God is the one that helps us in our time of need. An Ebenezer then can be anything that reminds us of what God does for us. In that case we have all kinds of things that can be an Ebenezer, the cross, the Bible, stained glass win-dows, candles or other symbols we use to represent God’s help for us. So, the next time we sing, “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”, you can remember to raise your Ebenezer and thank God for his help. Pastor Steve

Faith Builders in October
Our class will be going back to the very beginning in October. We will be spending the month discussing topics in Genesis, in a study called “God Creates the World.” Specific studies will be: God Creates Heaven and Earth; God Creates People; God Creates the Family; and God Confronts Sin. We invite you to come start your worship day with us. We have coffee, an
occasional treat, good discussion and fellowship. We will feel blessed if you will join us.!

Dana, Delci and Delaney Tucker have the opportunity to attend a fifth grade Transportation Seminar during Spring Break in March, 2019 at St. Louis. The seminar will include taking the train to St. Louis, riding in a taxi, taking the Metro and riding on a steam ship. They will fly home. While there they will get to see many sights. They are looking for opportunities to earn the money to go. Under the direction of Grandma, Grandpa or Mother, they will help anyone who has work for them to do to earn money for the trip. Please call 223- 4617 or 215-0242 if you have some work for the girls to do. Thanks.
