Children’s Program All Month Long
The Spooky Art Gallery
Oct. 1– Oct. 31, 2013
Our “Little Art Gallery” is being haunted, and all the art is missing! We need your help to put it
back together. All children who come in to the Oglethorpe County Library and find a ghost
hiding in the book shelves during the month of October will receive a small prize. We will
have several art projects here that you can color or draw to help fill our gallery or you may
choose to bring in your own spooky art.
Teen Programs All Month Long
Bookfacing Contest
Sept. 1 – Oct. 31, 2013
All teens, ages 13 to 18, can enter our Bookface contest simply by matching your face up
with any book cover that has a face on it and taking a picture. Example books that would be
excellent choices for this contest will be on display in the YA (young adult) section of the
library. Use your phone or another digital camera to take a photo of your bookface and send
it as a message to the library’s Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/OglethorpeCountyLibrary, or email it to
[email protected] and a librarian will post it for you. You will also have an
opportunity to have your picture taken by the librarian at any of the other teen events
scheduled throughout the month. All photos taken or submitted will be posted to the
library’s blog and Facebook page, and entered into the contest for a chance to win a gift card
to local Athens book store, Avid Bookshop! Library patrons and staff members will vote on
their favorite bookfaces by “liking” them on the library’s Facebook page. The bookface photo
with the most likes at the end of October wins the prize. For ideas on this new trend, check
out examples on our Facebook page or visit http://librarybookface.tumblr.com/ for ideas
from another public library.
