Bless us all, O Lord, we pray, for loved ones, here and near, and far

away. And everyone for whom we pray. Keep us safe each night and

day, the homeless who have no place to stay. Those who are suffering

in any way. The dying, those mourning or grieving and all who need

God's mercy. Keep us safe, Heavenly Father, when we are at home, or

travelling on our way, or when we are vulnerable, or in danger in any

way. Most merciful Father, hear us as we pray for the souls in

Purgatory, or who may be sent there some day.

The Pastors Corner

The message of St. Paul to the Church at Thessalonica helps us

know how the people lived their Christian vocation and

commitment in its true spirit. He appreciates and encourages them

for ‘the works of their faith, labors of their love and their

endurance in waiting for the coming of the Lord.’ He thanks God

for them. God continues to listen to the cry of the people in need

and chooses you and me to be sent to alleviate their tears of sorrow

and helplessness. All those who strive to get humanity and nature

back to its original state of well-being are people chosen by God.

“Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and Give to God what is God’s”

is the dictum we need now more than ever. God has the first claim

over us before we give our allegiance to anything earthly. As the

coin that bears the image of Caesar belong to him and must be

given back to him, so the human person created in the image of

God belongs to God whole and entire. God who has made us the

object of his love is the Creator God, “apart from whom all is

nothing” (Is 45:6). God is the source of every good. For those

who have everything as well as for those who have nothing, there

is only one single good- God himself, God is all powerful so that

he can lay prostrate the whole world whenever it may please him.

He rules the life of each one of us so completely that nothing that

happens to me is accidental or incidental and nothing that is

attempted in opposition to God can never be successful. Our faith

and works should express that we belong to God and we give him

what belongs to him even if it is our very selves.

devuelta enteramente a Dios.

Baptism Preparation (0-6yrs.)

Recently, we have received quite a few questions about infant

Baptism (0-6yrs). To help answer some of these, please note a

couple of things. First, the marital status of the parents of a child

does not affect the ability of the child to receive the sacrament.

Second, at least one parent must be Catholic, and both must intend

to raise their child in the Catholic faith (CIC can.868). Holy

Mother Church wants as many children as possible to be

Baptized—because a) Jesus requires it for salvation (Jn 3:5-7),

and b) leads to adoption into the family of God—the Church (Eph

1:5-7).

The graces of Baptism are real and make a real difference in the

life of a child, and we should not hinder any child from coming

closer to Jesus—especially with the simple process of having an

infant Baptized (Mk 10:13-16). Even better, parents do not have

to wait for the child to be born to prepare for Baptism! As soon as

you realize that you are pregnant, you can begin the preparation

process, so that the child receives the grace of Baptism as soon as

possible after they are born (CIC can.867). If you would like to

have your child from 0-6 years old baptized, please register online

at www.sttafw.org/baptism or contact Paul C. for more

information.

Next preparation for baptism class. Sunday, November 1 at 12pm.
