“In the Mood,” a big band theatrical swing review that pays tribute to the 1940s, will be presented, Oct. 23, at 3 p.m. the JLC.
The performance presents a combination of up-tempo, big band instrumentals and intimate, romantic ballads that set the mood for a future fi lled with promise, hope and pros-perity. “In the Mood” played to an enthusiastic, sold-out au-dience in November 2010 at the JLC.
The show features a 19 member cast, including sing-ers, dancers and the String of Pearls Big Band Orches-tra. The performance pays tribute to musicians such as
Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Harry James, Erskine Hawkins, The Andrews Sisters and Frank Sinatra.
The show was fea-tured in the National Archives’ 50th Anniversary of WWII commemoration and subsequent national tours. “In The Mood” was conceived and created by musical producer Bud Forrest.
“I can’t count the number of people who stopped me to share how much they enjoyed ‘In The Mood’ last year, said Gwethalyn J. Bron-ner, executive director of the James Lumber Center.
