Mrs. Roussell’s Classroom Newsletter Oct. 4 th – Oct. 8 th This Week’s Assignments Math – This week we will be looking at bar graphs, line graphs, pictographs and frequency tables (tally charts). We will talk about how these are all different ways to represent data in an organized way. Students will have a short quiz on Friday. Writing – Students will begin their Narratives. Our mini-lessons this week will be good beginnings, organization, satisfying endings and any other skill I am noticing needs work as I am conferencing. Spelling – We will continue with our whole class sort this week. Our focus will continue to be long “o”, short “o”. Reading – Our focus this week will be practicing how to find answers in our reading and how to support our answers with details from the text. Students will continue meeting in reading groups where we will work further on reading strategies. Social Studies – We will be reviewing this week and completing our Missouri Cookies. Test will be Thursday, Oct. 7 th . Reminders to Parents 1. Check and sign your child’s assignment book nightly and ask them about their day at school. Many students are not getting their assignment books signed. 2. Monday will be day 1 (Computer). Important Dates End of 1 st Quarter – Monday, Oct. 18 th Book Fair – Oct. 25 th – 28 th Parent/Teacher Conferences – Oct. 26 th – 27 th Something to Talk About!
