GLASS MInERAL WooL AnD MoLDGlass mineral wool insulation will not sus-tain mold growth. However, mold can grow on almost any material when it becomes wet and contaminated.Carefully inspect any insulation that has been exposed to water. If it shows any sign of mold, it must be discarded. If the material is wet but shows no evidence of mold, it should be dried rapidly and thoroughly. If it shows signs of facing degradation from wetting, it should be replaced.Air handling insulation used in the air stream must be discarded if exposed to water.

Application• Install Manson Insulation Alley Wrap™ with facing to the outside to obtain specified R-value using a maximum of 25% compression.

• Butt all insulation joints firmly together. Longitudinal seam of the vapor retarder must be overlapped a minimum of 2" (51 mm). A 2" (51 mm) tab is provided for the circumferential seam and must be overlapped.

• Where vapor retarder performance is necessary, all penetrations, joints, seams and damage to the facing should be sealed with an FSK, PSK or foil tape or glass fabric and mastic prior to system startup.

• Pressure sensitive tapes should be a minimum 3" (76 mm) wide and be applied with moving pressure using an appropriate sealing tool. Staples should be outward clinch and placed approximately 6" (152 mm) on centre.

• Closure systems should have a 25/50 F.H.C. per UL 723.

• For rectangular ducts over 24" (610 mm) wide, secure the insulation to the bottom side of the duct with mechanical fasteners spaced on 18" (457 mm) centers to reduce sag. Care should be taken to avoid over compressing the insulation with the retaining washer.

• It is neither necessary nor desirable to adhere Alley Wrap™ to duct surfaces with adhesive.

• Unfaced Alley Wrap™ should be overlapped with a minimum of 2” (51 mm) and fastened with 4” (102 mm) to 6” (152mm) nails or skewers placed 4” (102 mm) apart, or secured with a wire or banding system. Care must be taken to avoid damaging the Alley Wrap™. Refer to diagram for staple stitching and butt-joint method.

Installation Procedures• Use the table (below) to determine stretch-outs required for the nominal thickness of insulation to limit average compression of the

insulation 25% or less.

Application & Specification GuidelinesStorage• Protect stored insulation from water damage,

construction damage and other abuse.• If stored outside, proper protection from

CP-34 Vapor Retardant Coating

DESCRIPTION CP-34 is a water based vapor retarder coating for use over many types of thermal insulation including polystyrene foam. It is ideal for use over ASJ, FRK and FSK jackets and board facings to give a vapor retarding seal at joints, laps and weld pin punctures. CP-34 is formulated for indoor and outdoor commercial use. It has a mild latex “paint type” odor and is designed for use on pipes, vessels, ducts and equipment operating between 32°F (0°C) and ambient temperatures. CP-34 has a WVTR rating in the range of other competitive water based vapor barrier coatings. For heavier duty commercial or industrial use select Childers CP-35. LIMITATIONS Store and apply between 40°F (4°C) and 100°F (38°C); protect from freezing until dry. Always test foil and paper facings for acceptable adhesion before using. Outdoor horizontal surfaces must always drain completely. A pitch of at least 1/2 inch per foot (4 cm/m) is required. To resist rain washoff, allow at least 16 hours drying time above 50°F (10°C), with a relative humidity of 50%. Higher humidity and/or lower temperature may retard drying. CERTIFIED • Meets NFPA Standard 90-A and 90-B 25/50 requirements

when used to seal seams and punctures in vapor barrier facings and jacketing.

• This product has been tested according to ASTM E-84 (Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials).

• Meets requirements for LEED IEQ 4.2 Low-Emitting Materials, Paints and Coatings. VOC: 34 g/l, less water and exempt solvents.

INSUL - MATE ® ALUMINUM ROLL JACKETING

DESCRIPTION RPR Products Insul-Mate aluminum roll jacketing is manufactured from wrought aluminum alloys 3003 and 3105, used interchangeably, conforming to ASTM B209 designation. The product is cold-rolled to an H-14 temper (half-hard) which provides the required strength to resist in-service abuse. Ease of fabrication and installation are plus benefits. Aluminum's resistance to atmospheric corrosion makes it the ideal metal jacketing in most marine, chemical and industrial environments. Excellent cost savings can be achieved through long service with little maintenance. FINISHES RPR Products Insul-Mate aluminum roll jacketing is available in smooth, stucco embossed, and 3/16” corrugated (TVR). MOISTURE RETARDER Insul-Mate aluminum roll jacketing is supplied with a moisture retarder, which consists of 40-pound kraft paper coated with 1.5 mil thick, low density polyethylene film, heat and pressure bonded to the interior surface. This moisture retarder impedes galvanic corrosion caused by contact of dissimilar metals in the presence of moisture, and chemical corrosion caused by installing over damp insulation materials. For increased galvanic and corrosion protection, 3 mil & 4.5 mil “HP” Poly-Surlyn * moisture barrier is available. *Surlyn - A DuPont trademark.

REFRIGERANT & CONDENSATE DRAIN PIPE INSULATION

Made in USAContains a Protective Antimicrobial Agent

DESCRIPTIONINSUL-TUBE® is an NBR/PVC-based closed cell, flexible elastomeric foam insulation. It is environmentally-friendly as it is free of CFCs, HFCs, HCFCs, PBDEs, formaldehyde and fibers. An EPA-registered antimicrobial agent is incorporated into the product providing additional protection against mold, fungal and bacterial growth. It is UL GREENGUARD® Gold Certified for low VOC emissions. The product’s key physical properties are approved by Factory Mutual. The product is made in K-FLEX USA’s ISO 9001:2008-certified manufacturing facility in North Carolina.

AVAILABILITYINSUL-TUBE® is black in color and is available in non-slit, 6’ length tube form in wall thick-nesses of 3/8” up to 2” in diameter sizes rang-ing from 3/8” I.D. to 8” IPS. (ID range is subject to variation depending on wall thickness).

APPLICATIONSINSUL-TUBE® is recommended for applications with service temperatures ranging from -297°F (-182°C) to +220°F (+104°C). For applications below -40°F (-40°C), contact K-FLEX technical support. The product is used to retard heat gain and prevent condensation or frost formation on below-ambient applications, including refrigerant, cold water plumbing, chilled water, and industrial process lines, among others. It can be used with heat tracing tapes. It also retards heat loss from medium hot systems, including hot water plumbing, liquid heating, dual temperature, and solar thermal piping, among others.

OUTDOOR APPLICATIONS INSUL-TUBE® is made from a UV-resistant elastomeric blend. For low-to-moderate UV exposure (residential applications), no ad-ditional protection is needed. For severe UV exposure (rooftop applications) or for optimum performance, K-FLEX® 374 Protective Coating, approved jacketing or K-FLEX Clad® is required.

UNDERGROUND APPLICATIONSINSUL-TUBE® is acceptable for use in buried applications using the same installation prin-ciples as above ground applications. For lines above the water table, use a clean fill such as sand (3”-5” layer) to protect the insulation be-fore backfilling. For optimum performance, the lines should be encased in a conduit to protect them from problems associated with ground water intrusion and compaction. If a conduit is not used, the insulation thickness should be increased by one thickness size to compensate for compaction.

INSTALLATION INSUL-TUBE® is flexible (even at low tem-peratures), durable (non-fracturing and skin is resistant to tearing from handling and environment), safe to handle (non-dusting and non-abrasive), and lightweight for an efficient installation.

K-FLEX recommends that insulation is installed on non-operational systems with clean, dry surfaces in ambient conditions between 40°F and 100°F. Properly sized insulation tubing can be slid over piping (tubing should be pushed, not pulled) or, when applied to existing lines, can be slit lengthwise (using a sharp, non-serrated knife) and fitted into place. All seams, butt joints, termination points and open ends should be sealed with an approved contact adhesive, making sure both surfaces to be joined are coated. Longitudinal seams should face downward and vapor stops should be installed as needed. Fittings (elbows, tees, p-traps) and special parts (flanges, valves, etc.) can be field-fabricated from insulation tubes and sheets or K-Fit® factory-fabricated fittings can be used. ASTM C1710, Installation Guide for Flexible Closed Cell Foams, and the K-FLEX Installation Manual should be used as comprehensive installation guides.

RESISTANCE TO MOISTURE VAPOR FLOW The expanded closed cell structure and unique formulation inherently resists moisture vapor intrusion and is considered a Class 1 vapor retarder per ASHRAE. For most indoor applica-tions, INSUL-TUBE® needs no additional protec-tion. Additional vapor barrier protection may be necessary when installed on cold surfaces that are exposed to continuous high humidity.

FLAME AND SMOKE RATING INSUL-TUBE® in wall thicknesses of 2” (50 mm) and below has a flame spread rating of 25 or less and a smoke development rating of 50 or less as tested to ASTM E84, “Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials”. It is ac-ceptable for duct/plenum applications, meeting the requirements of NFPA 90A/B.

Numerical flammability ratings alone may not define the performance of products under actual fire conditions. They are provided only for use in the selection of products to meet limits specified when compared to a known standard.

Caution: Adhesive contains notable solvents and container, when not in use, should be kept closed. Keep adhesive away from sparks and open flames. Use with adequate ventilation and avoid excessive contact with the skin.

USES720-LVOC Contact Adhesive may be used for bonding elastomeric products to a variety of materials (i.e., other elastomers, metal, wood, leather, felt, concrete, etc.). The adhe-sive will make a resilient and heat-resistant bond. It is suitable for line temperatures up to 250˚F (121˚C) and 300˚F (150˚C) intermit-tent on applications requiring bonded seams and joints. When the adhesive is applied to large flat or curve surfaces, it is suitable for temperatures up to 200˚F (93˚C). The product is supplied in quarts. It contains no halogens, making it ideal for use with K-Flex ECO™ (non-halogen) insulation.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONSFor proper adhesion, the surfaces to which the insulation is to be applied must be thoroughly cleaned, dry, and unheated. Primed and painted surfac-es should be adhesive tested to be sure the insulation will not lift off after applica-tion. The adhesive should be thoroughly mixed. Brush or roll a thin even coat of adhesive on both surfaces to be joined.

Allow the adhesive films to become dry to the touch, but tacky, before joining the sur-faces. Press the two surfaces together. Be sure the insulation is in the desired position before the adhesive surfaces make initial contact, since the adhesive forms an instant bond, and repositioning after contact is dif-ficult. Moderate pressure should then be applied to the entire bonding area to insure complete contact. Avoid heat, sparks, and open flames, and use only proper ventila-tion. Close container after use.

720-LVOC Contact Adhesive should be applied at above 40˚F (4˚C) temperatures, and allowed to dry for 24 hours before equipment operation. Protective coatings can be applied to applications with bonded joints and seams, after allowing 24 hours dry time. Applications such as large tanks, or vessels where full adhesive coverage is required, must be allowed to dry 7 days prior to applying a protective coating.

Thinning the adhesive is not recom-mended. Common lacquer thinners (Xylol or Trichloroethylene) can be used for clean up.
