Welcome to our brand new guide for 2011/2012…
We have listened to your demands and produced a guide full of detailed
information allowing you to make more informed menu choices.
I am proud to say that Dixon family have been supplying the catering
industry with fine foods from our farm in Perthshire since 1953, starting
with my father’s our own Turkeys before expanding our range with the
purchase of Ochil Foods in 1985 and we haven’t stopped since. Our
reputation for excellence stems from our attention to detail, flexibility, and
passion for quality food found in two generations of currant family
employees, always searching for new and innovative ideas to find you “the
quality ingredient”.
Our ever expanding range of quality locally sourced ingredients sit side by
side with more recognizable brands from around the world. Our price list
carries short descriptions of both product range and the producers that
produce them, providing you with a reference book of over 1000 products
you can put on your customer’s plates.
This is our most comprehensive brochure to date – each section is
specifically laid out to help you find your area of interest, there is also a full
alphabetical index in the front of the brochure for quick reference. If a
product is not listed don’t be afraid to ask!!

Our quality and service is guaranteed and we ensure that all our products arrive with you the
customer in full compliance with all current Food Hygiene Legislation.
• We have a fleet of refrigerated vehicles delivering to local customers throughout the East of
Scotland and the Highlands, there is no minimum order and delivery is FREE.

Scottish Cheeses Scotland’s climate and geography are well suited to cheese making. Historically a short production season meant that cheeses must be matured throughout the winter, hence the traditional prominence of hard cheeses in Scotland and the British Isles as a whole. However, modern manufacturing practices have enabled a range of new softer cheeses to become available, such as soft brie and dolcelatte style cheeses. Today there are in excess of two dozen cheese makers across Scotland ranging from industrial cheddar creameries to a large number of smaller artisan cheese makers; it is from the latter category that we at Ochil Foods have put together a varied range of what we believe to be some of the finest cheeses in Scotland. Many of which have been recognized for their quality at the Great British Taste Awards and the British Cheese Show.

Almond Shaped with a rich aubergine colour; this olive is a popular choice. Its meaty texture
is comined with a fresh fruity flavour. The only Greek Olive with PDO status.
Black Pitted Beldi Olive with Herbs, pitted (dry no brine) Marrakech, Morocco
A blend of Mediterranean herbs; oregano, thyme and rosemary. The marinade runs
delicately over the internse liquorice punch of this rich Moroccan olive.

have become synonymous with local’s, hotels such as The Old Couse and Gleneagles.

converted Gold Award by the National (UK) Ice Cream Alliance and is regularly
invited to be the lead judge at the Highland Show Ice Cream Awards.

Summer Harvest Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil
David Cameron and his wife Elizabeth have grown oilseed rape on the family farm, near Madderty Perthshire,
for more than 25 years and three years ago heir daughter with daughter, Margaret, and son-in-law Mark Bush,
started producing their “Summer Harvest” branded Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil.
The oil can be used in place of olive or other oils for cooking – it has a higher burning point than olive oil – and
also in marinades and salad dressings. Among the many attributes of rapeseed oil, is that it has only six per
cent saturated fat, compared with olive oil which typically has 14% and butter at 59%.
Rapeseed oil also had naturally occurring Vitamin E, an antioxidant, and is a good source of omega 3, 6 and 9.
With a shelf life of around 12-18 months, the oil is simply pressed and filtered with no preservatives of
additives.
The Oil has proved to be extremely proved to be extremely popular and well received amongst chefs and the
general public; the couple have collected numerous awards including The Scotland Food and Drink Excellence
Award and two Converted Gold Stars at The Great Taste Awards.
18 months ago Mark and Margret teamed up with another local farmer David Burbury from Dalchonzie Fruit
Farm, and have developed a fantastic range of dressings.

Another local grower just 10 miles down the road at the Carse of Gowrie is Scotherb,
we are glad to offer their fantastic fresh herbs and micro herbs from WOW on a
standing order basis. The reason for only offering a standing order is so that you get
your fresh herbs with the maximum shelf life, i.e. they haven’t sat in our fridge for a
few days before delivery.

When he couldn’t find a high quality manufactured stock powder that met all his requirements,
Nigel Crane decided to make his own instead. He founded Essential Cuisine in 1995 with a range of
four stock powders, and now they offer probably the most comprehensive range of stock products in
the UK. Stocks are one of the cornerstones of a good kitchen, but whilst a good bought-in stock can

Concentrated Glace
These concentrated stocks/glace’s manufactured to the highest standards are
extremely versatile - for use in stir fries, gravies, dips, casseroles, dressings, pasta
dishes as well as making stock with no waste. They can be stored ambient until
opened and then chilled. They yield 20-30 litres of Stock.
