On Tuesday there was a brief verbal confrontation between members of Occupy:Hamburg and the chief executive of the Deutsche Bank, Josef Acker- mann, at a general meeting of the Hamburg businessmen’s club for ethical con- duct (»Versammlung eines ehrbaren Kaufmanns zu Hamburg«) that was spon- sored by the local chamber of commerce. On this occasion Mr. Ackermann said he would welcome the opportunity to take part in a discussion. Occupy:Frankfurt accepts Mr. Ackermann’s offer and in the next few days will issue an invitation to him as well as to other leading representatives of the Ger- man financial and economic world to participate in a panel discussion. Under the title »The responsibility of the banks in the economic and public debt crisis« the movement intends to critically question both current business ethics and existing power structures. Especially in view of the desire for transparency and communication, Occupy:Frankfurt welcomes Mr. Ackermann’s willingness to take part in a discussion.
