This money has now been sent to the Student Leaders of Cashmere High School, accompanied by a note of support wrien by our Head Students. While it is only a small amount in the scheme of things, we wanted to do something to show that we care. Tragic events such as this highlight the importance of all those personal qualies which we emphasise on a daily basis—of being kind, caring, inclusive and respecul of one another. Let us not forget! She takes over the role from Ms Glenys Parry who is rering at the end of Term One. Ms Kay Strathern, an experienced teacher of Art from Morrinsville College, will be joining our staff aſter Queen’s Birthday weekend. We will hold a farewell for Ms Parry at our final Assembly this term. Parents and Old Girls are most welcome to join us at this Assembly on April 10, which begins at 11.50am. Miss Hannah Frenz from Germany has been working with Caretaker Mr Lance Puhirere while our Gardener Ms Shirley Worthington has been on leave caring for her sick husband. We have been very fortunate to have had her working on our grounds and buildings for the past seven weeks. Miss Frenz finishes working for us this Friday, and is returning home to Europe shortly to resume her job as a High-Ropes instructor. We thank her for her efforts and wish her all the best for the future. South Island Athlecs—Best wishes to Niamh Motley, Nora Quigley, Jessica Vogel and Madeline Thomas who are heading to Blenheim to compete for Craighead at the South Island Secondary Schools’ Athlecs this weekend. Our teachers have put together some wonderful courses that will allow your daughter to further develop the Key Competencies outlined in the NZ Curriculum and the disposions she will need when she leaves school for further educaon or the workplace. We encourage you to read through this with your daughter(s) and familiarise yourself with the courses and any associated costs. Students in Year 7– 10 have also received a link to a Google Form for them to complete indicang their choice(s). This must be done by Monday 1 April. Meet Ella Yeatman— Deputy Cultural Leader 2019
Starting Craighead as a Year 9 boarder in 2015, I never thought I would see the day where I would be walking around school in a Year 13 blazer. The last four years spent at Craighead have been a privilege and it is an honour to be appointed to the role of Deputy Cultural Leader for 2019. Year 8 Having A Go!! Last Friday, the Year 8 girls took part in a Have A Go Sports Day run by Sport South Canterbury. Thirteen sports were on offer ranging from Futsal, Golf, In-line Skating, Rugby, Volleyball, Lawn Bowls, Squash and Athletics, as well as many more. The girls were put into teams to play against students from five other schools. Throughout the day all teams got to have a go at seven of the various sports. We would like to thank the parents who helped supervise the teams and transport girls. It was a very enjoyable and well organised day.

Rosa Westgarth who were placed sixth overall out of 28 teams at the Canterbury Secondary Schools’ Dressage at McLeans Island yesterday.

Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival Thursday 4 April, 1pm-4pm

Next Thursday, Craighead is the venue for the 2019 Otago University Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival. Our Year 13 Drama students are entering two student-directed scenes; one from The Merry Wives of Windsor and the other from Henry VIII. Please come and support the girls as they compete against six other schools in the region. The winning school(s) go to Wellington in June to represent our region in the National Festival.
