The industry has spent years addressing the visual needs of the aging baby-boomers. A seemingly ignored class is at the opposite end of the, pardon the pun, spectrum, and the children. Children face their own collection of visual needs. There are refractive errors, muscular deficiencies, physical and/or neurological impairments, or just need for protection from life’s activities. Opticians will learn about the development of vision, the visual challenges of young people, the lenses that address those challenges, and the appropriate fitting and measurements to maximize function. Very importantly, they will learn what discussions to have with the parents.

Speaker BiographiesPamela B. FritzPam is the President of Ophthalmology Resources, LLC. She is recognized nationally as a specialist in Medicare post-op cataract eyewear, compliance, billing and reimbursements.

Fritz was a contributing editor for “Ophthalmology Times” (2002-2008) helping to launch the new “Dispensing MD” section of the magazine. Pam was a founder and served as the Executive Director of the American Association of Dispensing Ophthalmologists, Inc. (1999 – 2008). During her tenure with AADO, she planned and executed the first “Dispensing Ophthalmology Pavilion” in the exhibit hall at the AAO annual meeting.

In 2003 she was named, “50 of the most influential women in the optical industry” in their first nationwide poll conducted by Jobson Publishing. In 2014 Pam received an Achievement Award from The American Academy of Ophthalmology, “for many years of distinguished service in the programs of this Society” (AAO).

John K. RowandJohn spent many summers as a youth working in his Father’s Lab, he has seen many changes in lens fabrication over the years. Today, John is coordinating the launch of I-See’s newest wave of Anti-Reflective coatings. John is Vice-President and Lab Director of I-See Optical Lab in Blackwood, NJ, a full service Independent Wholesale optical laboratory, serving the Independent Eye Care community for over 40 years, and a proud supporter of the OANJ. John also has a background in Computer Science

and was instrumental in implementing all facets of MIS (Management Information Systems) within I-See, and development of data point software, and many other facets of MIS within I-See’s business model.

Vicki MasliahVicki Masliah, Director of Professional Relations for MH Optical Supplies, has been in the optical industry for forty years. As well as having been a dispensing optician, she has worked in management of both the lens manufacturing and prescription fabrication business. She has been providing practitioner education since 1979, when she introduced Varilux to New Jersey.

Albert R. GleekAlbert R. Gleek is an experienced executive in ophthalmic lenses, Rx and plano lens development, Optical Laboratory operations, management, sales, marketing and overall product and business development. Mr. Gleek has a proven and verifiable track record. He specializes in national sunglass and optical brands, manufacturers, Rx processing and development and management Rx programs (Ray Ban, Nike, Carl Zeiss, Revo, Cost del Mar, etc.) including high profile optical retail and wholesale customers (Luxottica Retail, Wal Mart, NVI, Costco, etc.). He is currently the President at AG Vision Consulting LLC and holds positions with B. Robinson – Revo Brand, Liberty Sport and SWV (Strategy with Vision).

Alessandro BarontiAlessandro focused completely on his professional career, he became a student

of personal growth and leadership. His studies introduced him to the opportunity of teaching continuing education in the Optical Industry. Mr. Baronti has hundreds of seminars, teaching to a combined audience of over 8500 people. He has won numerous awards and has dedicated time to philanthropic work in Thailand. He is currently the VP of Industry Relation & Education at Luxottica.

Barry E. SantiniMr Santini is a Master Optician, certified by the American Board Of Optician’s. He is President of Long Island Opticians, a retail optical store located in Seaford, New York.

Barry is a nationally known optical speaker, writer, blogger and is a contributing editor to 20/20 Magazine. With over 43 years’ experience, Barry is an expert on dispensing, fabrication, optics, rimless processing as well as business and practice management.

A NYS licensed ophthalmic optician and certified Contact Lens fitter, Barry received his ABOM from the American Board of Opticianry in 1994. In 2012, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the NYS Society of Opticians. In 2016, Barry was awarded “Optician of the Year” from the Society to Advance Opticianry (SAO). Barry is currently on the advisory board for the ophthalmic

dispensing department of New York City College of Technology.

Samantha Toth, ABOCSamantha is a professional speaker and marketing consultant for Innereactive Media, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She grew up in an optical practice with multiple family members in the industry. An ABO certified optician herself, Samantha worked as a dispensing optician for eight years, as well as managed an independent optometric practice.

In 2003, she started Innereactive Media, a full service marketing company that specializes in the optical industry. Her experience as a certified optician, along with her formal marketing education from Michigan State University has given her a unique perspective on marketing solutions for the optical industry. In 2009, Samantha’s company launched Innexus®, an all-in-one, don’t-do-it-yourself website, social media, and marketing solution for eye care professionals.

Samantha is an ABO, NCLE, AOA, and COPE approved speaker and she lectures to opticians and optometrists internationally. Her niche expertise led her to be named one of “Most Influential Women in Optical,” and her company was named one of Michigan’s Top 50 Companies to Watch in 2016.
