Oak Trace Weekly Update September 6, 2019 Message from Mrs. Lynch What a great Walk-A-Thon day! The weather cooperated, and our PTO was able to exceed their goal! We had fun dancing, walking, and enjoying some time outside! Special thanks to Mrs. Whipple, Mrs. Holstein, Mrs. January, Max (our DJ), and Ninja Danny! The PTO uses these funds to support special programs and activities at Oak Trace throughout the year (visiting authors, artist in residence, eld day, and guest speakers). Our PTO does two fundraisers each school year, Walk-A-Thon which supports the yearly PTO budget and Savor Westeld which supports one larger project. This year Savor funds will go toward the purchase of additional Chromebooks for our students. Be sure to purchase your tickets for Savor, September 19th, as they are selling fast! I enjoyed celebrating all of the boys and girls who completed their summer work, and emailed me throughout the summer. Marc Lehman, our favorite magician, shared some cool new tricks, and gave the boys and girls a little magic sh. Just a reminder that next Wednesday is picture day! Our Westeld High School Homecoming is on September 27th and the Homecoming parade is at 6:00 on September 26th. Special thanks to the Risvold family for offering to create our oat, Lucky Charms! Your child is welcome to walk with our oat in the parade, but you will need to read the information and complete the permission form in the newsletter. Have a great weekend, and Go Rocks! Walk-A-ThonTHANK YOU to all parents, students, families, and friends ofOak Trace Elementary. We are excited to announce that wehave far exceeded our goal and have raised well over $31,000.We had a very close contest at the end and Mrs. Callahan's 2ndgrade classroom took the lead in the nal minutes. Veryexciting! The effort made by every single team isextraordinary; this has been a great example of how much canbe accomplished when working together as a team.

We had a few questions about the different structure of thisfundraiser so wanted to be sure to share the followinginformation: All funds will go directly back to Oak Trace. We did not employan outside company this year so were able to net thousands ofdollars more than last year. This is the only major fundraiser ofthe school year; there will not be an additional drive in January. The continued success of Walk-A-Thon allows us to foregotraditional school fundraisers (wrapping paper, candles, fooditems, etc.) which can be a nuisance to families so THANKYOU for your participation. Even though the contest is over we still have checks comingin! If you'd like to make a donation to the school please feelfree to do so! If you have any questions or feedback that you'd like to shareplease feel free to do [email protected]
