MAN Service: Competent and commited.MAN is there for you right from the start. When you need qualified advice on technolo-gy and installation, our experts are available to help accomplish your goals. And of course, you can always rely on our worldwide services. Over 1 200 service locations in Europe alone provide fast, professional maintenance and repairs. For ship and industrial motors, additional contractual partners ensure service throughout the world. We are always available, whenever and wherever you need us.MAN carries out its own servicing, as it enables engine maintenance and repairs to be included in the company’s service. Vehicle manufactures can save time and money through single source service. We provide qualified training courses and a multi-stage certification process, to ensure a smooth transition from start to finish.
Customer benefitsnn Dependable installation conditions
(thanks to compact and identical engine dimensions for all exhaust-gas regulations)
nn Full product range with common rail technology and optimum rating increments
nn Worldwide MAN Service with an extensive service network
nn Great cost savings thanks to innovative technologies which optimize fuel consumption and extend service intervals
nn Fast spare-parts availability with first-class after-sales conditions
MAN engines for trucks.Power for heavy loads.Powerful and robust, engines from MAN guarantee efficient and reliable propulsion in short- and long-haul trucks, even for heavy loads. The special-purpose vehicles diesel engines with ratings from 150 hp to 680 hp (110 kW to 500 kW) and a design that meets regulations from EURO 3 to EURO 6 ensures a superior performance. For whatever exhaust- gas regulations have to be met, vehicle manufactures have the advantage of a uniform space requirement for installation of the engines. Innovative technologies optimise fuel consumption as well as ensure high efficiency.

MAN exhaust gas technology.EURO 6.
In order to adhere to EURO 6 limits on exhaust gasses, MAN PURE DIESEL® technology and the AdBlue®-based SCR system, is installed in series production at MAN Truck & Bus. This requires teamwork.
CRT + SCRThe challenge here is not only to achieve perfect control of the chemical process in the SCR technology but also to combine this technology optimally with the CRT system that is likewise needed for compliance with EURO 6. In MAN’s solution the entire exhaust-gas is cleaned in two stages in the silencer:
Stage 1: CRTA Diesel oxidising catalyst DOCB Closed particulate filter system CRT
Stage 2: SCRC Urea injection and conversionD SCR catalyst moduleE Ammonia blocking catalyst
Tailor-made exhaust technology due to modular construction. The intelligent modules will amaze you, as the design of all the exhaust gas attach-ments for MAN diesel engines is strictly modular. The choice of exhaust system is based on the emissions standard required by the market, but the installation con-ditions for the basic engine stay the same. It is easy to see the benefits: vehicle and special machinery manufacturers choose the best exhaust system for the required emissions standard when they buy their engines. The vehicles and machinery they produce are therefore well equipped to meet the needs of the various markets.

MAN AdBlue® (SCR)
Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is a chemical process in which the oxides of nitrogen (NOX) in the exhaust gas are selectively reduced by withdrawal of oxygen using a reducing agent. This process has been used by MAN in heavy trucks since 2005.The SCR process makes it possible to tune engines for comparatively low-particulate (hot) combustion. The oxides of nitrogen that form in the process are reduced with the assis-tance of a „conversion track” and cata-lytic converters that are housed in the silencer. The urea-water solution AdBlue has proven itself as reducing agent.
Closed particulate filter system MAN CRTec®
CRT stands for Continuously Regen-erating Trap; it is a filter system that is constantly regenerated. The CRT used for exhaust-gas cleaning comprises an oxidising catalyst that is housed in the silencer and chemically converts individual pollutants. Downstream of this is a surface particulate filter which filters out the soot and further reduces the NOX content.nn Instead of the open MAN PM-KAT®
used to achieve compliance with the EEV standard, MAN engines for EURO 6 feature a closed CRT system with a higher separation rate of 95 to 99 % of the entire particulate mass – a contribution from MAN to the reduc-tion of respirable particulate matter.
nn The particulate filter used by MAN for this is an efficient sintered metal filter that is more resistant to high exhaust-gas temperatures than a conventional ceramic filter, it can be cleaned simply by the End user.
MAN PURE Diesel®
Use of the key technology EGR (Ex-haust Gas Recirculation) developed and tested by MAN guarantees an exhaust-gas temperature that is high enough for the CRT filter system shortly after the engine is started, even with frequent stops. In EGR, the external cooled and con-tinuously regulated exhaust gas recir-culation system, a small share of the exhaust gas is diverted from the main flow and passes through a special heat exchanger through which coolant flows. In the intake manifold the cooled ex-haust gas is mixed with fresh air via a peak pressure valve that exploits the pressure pulses in the exhaust gas.The recirculated exhaust gas impedes the chemical reaction that results in the formation of nitrogen oxides (NOX) dur-ing combustion. Fewer nitrogen oxides are formed in the combustion chamber.

Planetary hub reduction front axles.Description of axles and technical data.
The perfect answer for more drive. The driven planetary hub reduction front axles are in a class of their own: extremely heavy-duty , low weight, high efficiency and large ground clearance. Also ideal for all-wheel vehicles.
You have a choice of first-class alternatives. MAN planetary hub reduction front axles come as a single driven axle and as a drive-through axle for a tandem front axle, so that together with MAN planetary hub reduction rear axles, again with and without drive-through, an 8 x 8 all-wheel vehicle can be configured. A differential lock plays its part whenever maximum traction is needed. Short stopping distance is no problem for drum or disk brakes with automatic brake shoe adjustment. The brake cylinders are operated pneumatically.

Transfer cases.Description.
All-round power for all-wheel vehicles: MAN transfer cases deliver full power to all axles. With their well-balanced weight, compact construction and high reliability they demonstrate their superior performance in the most difficult conditions.
MAN transfer cases come in variations with engageable and disengageable front-axle drive or for permanent all-wheel drive with speed compensation between front and rear axle and pneumatic differential lock.
MAN transfer cases are low in weight, and their installation is simplified by an enlarged shaft spacing and smaller con-necting angle in the drive shaft. The optimized gearing and reinforcement of the case reduce the emission of noise. It is equiped with a filter to ensure long oil change intervals.
Changing of the road/off-road gear and of the differential lock is pneumatically driven, as is engaging and disengaging of the front axle.
The gear wheels immerse in oil and lubricate all points in operation. The power takeoff is lubricated by a built-in oil pump. The inside of the case features multi-lip shaft packing rings that are protected against damage from the exterior by a narrow air gap and extra metal rings with a labyrinth-like sealing effect.

General notes:All transfer cases are designed for use with commercial vehicles. When used for other purposes, appropriate technical harmonization will be necessary. Maximum operating temperature is 120 °C, shortterm (max. 30 minutes) 130 °C. If the temperature rating is constantly exceeded because of high performance requirements or arduous conditions of operation, an oil cooler (cooler package) is necessary. Technical details on request.
