We want to understand what is working and what is not working for:

people who are part of the Criminal Justice System.

People who might become part of the Criminal Justice System.

We want to try and help: Children. Young people up to the age

of 25.

We think it is important to have positive, long term relationships with the people who make important decisions.

Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Greater Manchester Learning Disability and Autism Steering Group have asked a local company called Pathways to help with this.

A steering group is a group of people who will use their skills and experience to help make decisions.

Pathways really want to understand how they can make services better.

They will do this by really listening to groups that have not always felt important or valued.

The project will help to support the work done by the:

Greater Manchester Violence Reduction Unit.

Health and Justice Learning Disability and/or Autism Steering Group.

It will help to review the Mentally Vulnerable Offenders Panel and try to think of a better name for this.

The Mentally Vulnerable Offenders Panel works with all young people with learning disabilities and/or autism, or mental health problems who have committed a crime.

They will discuss if the young person should go through the criminal justice system, which might mean they go to prison.

Or they might decide that it would be better if they got some extra support instead.

Pathways would really like to meet children, young people and their families who have been involved with:

The Mentally Vulnerable Offenders Panel.

Youth Offending Teams. Police. Anyone with an interest in

the Justice System.Pathways will also listen to people with a learning disability and/or autism, and those communities whose voices are not always heard
