National Grid are installing a new power plant in at Moorside on the west coast which will supply power to both Cumbria and Lancashire.

One route will head north from Moorside to Harker Substation nr Carlisle following the coast up to Maryport before heading inland to Harker. The other route is intended to head down the coast from Moorside to Barrow before being tunnelled across Morecambe Bay to reach the new power station at Heysham.

Consultations are currently being held to determine the routes overland that the pylons will take and National Grid have written to those landowners they feel will be affected. They are intending to use the route of existing electricity pylons but will need to replace some and carry out some alterations. If you have had a letter or have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Sarah Clegg from NWA Professional on 015395 66229

Tuesday 23rd SeptemberTuesday 23rd SeptemberTuesday 23rd SeptemberTuesday 23rd September North West Auctions held their weekly sale of primestock at J36 on Tuesday where 2608 prime sheep were sold comprising 1989 prime lambs averaging 147.27p/kg and 607 cast sheep aver-aging £50.22 and 12 cast rams to average £61.08.

Prime Lambs in general today sold at a very steady pace with buyers being very selective. A lot more heavy lambs around proving the more difficult to sell with handy weight export type lambs 38-40kgs being short of buyers requirements.
