Song of Solomon 2:15 Take us

the foxes, the little foxes, that

spoil the vines: for our vines

have tender grapes.

We talked last time about the fox named

Waste, and several ways to waste God’s Provision.

Discarding

good stuff.

Candy and

cokes

Lottery

tickets

Booze or

cigarettes

Whatever you spend money for.

4

Another form of waste is to be destructive, or not

take care of the things you have.

People buy a car and then

abuse it until it's a pile of

junk in a few years.

Page 5: Nuts and bolts of christian finance 6

5

Waste is a fox that will steal God's provision, and

then folks think that God is letting them down.

Not a trampoline

Page 6: Nuts and bolts of christian finance 6

6

Envy is another fox that will

steal God's provision.

Trying to keep up with

other people.

Page 7: Nuts and bolts of christian finance 6

7

Pretty soon you are trying

to live above your

means, and struggling to

make ends meet.

Page 8: Nuts and bolts of christian finance 6

8

Envy will steal your

fellowship with God;

with the church; family

and your friends.

Page 9: Nuts and bolts of christian finance 6

9

Envy is a wicked little fox that

steals God’s Provision.

Cut his little head off with your

sword.

Be content with such

things as you have.

1 Corinthians 13:4 (NIV) Love is patient, love is

kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not

proud.

EnvyOpposite of

love.

11

Envy’s twin brother is lust. Don’t let your Want to

overload your can do and steal your peace and joy.

Live within your means.

Better yet, live

beneath your

means.

Save some money.

Page 12: Nuts and bolts of christian finance 6

Debt is another little fox that

destroys your finances.

I am not saying that debt is a sin;

Kill the other foxes before they

produce this one.

We have already discussed waste, envy, and

lust, all of which cause people to take on debt.

Fox # 5 Lack of planning for the future will cause

us to have to go in debt.

If you don’t save for future needs, you will have to

buy things on credit.

Page 14: Nuts and bolts of christian finance 6

14

Impatience is a fox that will cause you to go in

debt rather than wait until you can save the cash.

Many things cause us to go in debt,

but the result is the same:

You pay a large portion of your income for interest

on borrowed money or financed consumer goods.

Page 15: Nuts and bolts of christian finance 6

15

That interest is eating up God's provision, and then

you wonder why you can't make ends meet.

Why you can never save any money.

Why you don't have money to give.

God gave you the money – but

That money is being used to pay interest on debt.

There are a lot more little foxes we could talk

about, but I want you to think of your own.

Little things that don’t seem like much at the time.

But they add up to a lot over time.

We’ll pick up here next time with examples to

show how much money can go out in interest.
