I am not yet of retirement age , but I do receive social security benefits because we have a 17-year-old daughter in our care. She gets benefits , too. If she continues in school after 18, will I continue to get benefits? Answer : No , ynur checks will stop when your daughter reaches 13. When you reach 62, you will be eligible to receive benefits again as the wife of your retired husband Question : If I am hospitalized , do I have to file a claim for the Social Security Medicare payments? Answer : If the hospital par- ticipates in Social Security Medicare, the people at the hospital will do this for you. They will receive the payment from Medicare directly. The Social Security Administration will then advise you how many hospital days you have used in your current benefit period . If the hospital does not participate in Medicare , your hospital in- surance can help pay for emergency care under certain conditions. But the hospital may decide to bill you , rather than bill Medicare , and in that case , > OM should file a claim so that the Medicare payment can be made to you. If you have medical insurance protection and have expenses covered under medical in- surance , then you or your doctor (or supplier ) will have to claim the Medicare payment . See your Medicare Handbook for detailed instructions about medical in- surance claims. Social SecurityQuestion : My husband is

retired . I am not yet ofretirement age , but I do receivesocial security benefits becausewe have a 17-year-old daughter inour care. She gets benefits , too.If she continues in school after 18,will I continue to get benefits?

Answer : No , ynur checks willstop when your daughter reaches13. When you reach 62, you will beeligible to receive benefits againas the wife of your retiredhusband

Question : If I am hospitalized ,do I have to file a claim for the

Social Security Medicarepayments?

Answer : If the hospital par-ticipates in Social SecurityMedicare, the people at thehospital will do this for you. Theywill receive the payment fromMedicare directly. The SocialSecurity Administration will thenadvise you how many hospitaldays you have used in yourcurrent benefit period . If thehospital does not participate inMedicare , your hospital in-surance can help pay foremergency care under certainconditions. But the hospital maydecide to bill you , rather than billMedicare, and in that case, > OMshould file a claim so that theMedicare payment can be madeto you.

If you have medical insuranceprotection and have expensescovered under medical in-surance, then you or your doctor(or supplier ) will have to claimthe Medicare payment . See yourMedicare Handbook for detailedinstructions about medical in-surance claims.
