Numbers 9:1-2Numbers 9:1-2Thus the LORD spoke to Moses
in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying, 2 “Now, let the sons of Israel observe the Passover at its appointed time.”
Numbers 9:6Numbers 9:6But there were some men who
were unclean because of the dead person, so that they could not observe Passover on that day; so they came before Moses and Aaron on that day.
Numbers 9:9-11Numbers 9:9-11Then the LORD spoke to Moses,
saying, 10 “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘If any one of you or of your generations becomes unclean because of a dead person, or is on a distant journey, he may, however, observe the Passover to the LORD. 11 In the second month on the fourteenth day at twilight, they shall observe it; they shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.’”

Numbers 9:15Numbers 9:15Now on the day that the
tabernacle was erected the cloud covered the tabernacle, the tent of the testimony, and in the evening it was like the appearance of fire over the tabernacle, until morning.
Numbers 9:16Numbers 9:16So it was continuously; the cloud
would cover it by day, and the appearance of fire by night.
Numbers 9:17Numbers 9:17Whenever the cloud was lifted
from over the tent, afterward the sons of Israel would then set out; and in the place where the cloud settled down, there the sons of Israel would camp.
Numbers 9:18Numbers 9:18At the command of the LORD the
sons of Israel would set out, and at the command of the LORD they would camp; as long as the cloud settled over the tabernacle, they remained camped.
Numbers 9:19Numbers 9:19Even when the cloud lingered
over the tabernacle for many days, the sons of Israel would keep the LORD’S charge and not set out.
Numbers 9:22Numbers 9:22Whether it was two days or a
month or a year that the cloud lingered over the tabernacle, staying above it, the sons of Israel remained camped and did not set out; but when it was lifted, they did set out.

Numbers 11:4-6Numbers 11:4-6The rabble who were among
them had greedy desires; and also the sons of Israel wept again and said, “Who will give us meat to eat? 5 We remember the fish which we used to eat free in Egypt, the cucumbers and the melons and the leeks and the onions and the garlic, 6 but now our appetite is gone. There is nothing at all to look at except this manna.”

Numbers 13:30-31Numbers 13:30-31Then Caleb quieted the people
before Moses and said, “We should by all means go up and take possession of it, for we will surely overcome it.”
31 But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are too strong for us.”
Numbers 13:32Numbers 13:32So they gave out to the sons of
Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone, in spying it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants; and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great size.”
Numbers 13:33Numbers 13:33“There also we saw the Nephilim
(the sons of Anak are part of the Nephilim); and we became like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”

Numbers 14:1Numbers 14:1Then all the congregation lifted up
their voices and cried, and the people wept that night.
Numbers 14:2-3Numbers 14:2-3All the sons of Israel grumbled
against Moses and Aaron; and the whole congregation said to them, “Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would that we had died in this wilderness! 3 Why is the LORD bringing us into this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will become plunder; would it not be better for us to return to Egypt?”
Numbers 14:6-8Numbers 14:6-8Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb
the son of Jephunneh, of those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes; 7 and they spoke to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, saying, “The land which we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. 8 If the LORD is pleased with us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us-- a land which flows with milk and honey.”
Numbers 14:9Numbers 14:9“Only do not rebel against the
LORD; and do not fear the people of the land, for they will be our prey. Their protection has been removed from them, and the LORD is with us; do not fear them.”
Numbers 14:10Numbers 14:10But all the congregation said to
stone them with stones. Then the glory of the LORD appeared in the tent of meeting to all the sons of Israel.
Numbers 14:11-12Numbers 14:11-12The LORD said to Moses, “How
long will this people spurn Me? And how long will they not believe in Me, despite all the signs which I have performed in their midst? 12 I will smite them with pestilence and dispossess them, and I will make you into a nation greater and mightier than they.”
Numbers 14:13-14Numbers 14:13-14But Moses said to the LORD,
“Then the Egyptians will hear of it, for by Your strength You brought up this people from their midst, 14 and they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that You, O LORD, are in the midst of this people, for You, O LORD, are seen eye to eye, while Your cloud stands over them; and You go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night.”
Numbers 14:15-16Numbers 14:15-16“Now if You slay this people as
one man, then the nations who have heard of Your fame will say, 16 ‘Because the LORD could not bring this people into the land which He promised them by oath, therefore He slaughtered them in the wilderness.’”
Numbers 14:17-18Numbers 14:17-18“But now, I pray, let the power of
the Lord be great, just as You have declared, 18 ‘The LORD is slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generations.’”
Numbers 14:19Numbers 14:19“Pardon, I pray, the iniquity of this
people according to the greatness of Your lovingkindness, just as You also have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.”
Numbers 14:20-21Numbers 14:20-21So the LORD said, “I have
pardoned them according to your word; 21 but indeed, as I live, all the earth will be filled with the glory of the LORD.”
Numbers 14:22-23Numbers 14:22-23Surely all the men who have seen
My glory and My signs which I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have put Me to the test these ten times and have not listened to My voice, 23 shall by no means see the land which I swore to their fathers, nor shall any of those who spurned Me see it.
Numbers 14:24Numbers 14:24But My servant Caleb, because
he has had a different spirit and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land which he entered, and his descendants shall take possession of it.
Numbers 14:28-29Numbers 14:28-29Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the
LORD, ‘just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will surely do to you; 29 your corpses will fall in this wilderness, even all your numbered men, according to your complete number from twenty years old and upward, who have grumbled against Me.’
Numbers 14:30Numbers 14:30“Surely you shall not come into
the land in which I swore to settle you, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.”

Numbers 14:33Numbers 14:33“Your sons shall be shepherds for
forty years in the wilderness, and they will suffer for your unfaithfulness, until your corpses lie in the wilderness.”

Numbers 14:39-40Numbers 14:39-40When Moses spoke these words
to all the sons of Israel, the people mourned greatly. 40 In the morning, however, they rose up early and went up to the ridge of the hill country, saying, “Here we are; we have indeed sinned, but we will go up to the place which the LORD has promised.”
Numbers 14:41-42Numbers 14:41-42But Moses said, “Why then are
you transgressing the commandment of the LORD, when it will not succeed? 42 Do not go up, or you will be struck down before your enemies, for the LORD is not among you.”
Numbers 14:44-45Numbers 14:44-45But they went up heedlessly to
the ridge of the hill country; neither the ark of the covenant of the LORD nor Moses left the camp. 45 Then the Amalekites and the Canaanites who lived in that hill country came down, and struck them and beat them down as far as Hormah.
