Nuaire Thermal Ducting
Description of Product
This is an assessment of the Nuaire insulated
ducting system for a mechanical ventilation
system with heat recovery. Nuaire’s new range
of thermal duct is specifically designed to
comply with 2010 Building Regulations to
significantly improve thermal conductivity and
thermal resistance of ventilation ducting used
in domestic properties and with its unique
quick fix clip system can significantly reduce
the amount of time required to install a
compliant insulated ductwork system.
Key Factors Assessed
Safety in case of Fire
Health, Hygiene and Environmental
Safety in Use
Energy Economy and heat retention
Validity
This certificate was first issued on 25th April 2014 and is valid until 25th April 2018.
Issue Dated 22nd May 2015
Certificate No: EWW415

Ducting should be insulated where it passes through unheated areas and voids (e.g. loft spaces) with equivalent of at least
25mm of a material having a thermal conductivity of ≤0.04W/(m.K) to reduce the possibility of condensation forming. Where a
duct extends above roof level the section above the roof should be insulated or a condensate trap should be fitted just below
roof level.
The Ducting only has been assessed and will be used in conjunction with an appropriate mechanical ventilation system.
The ducting is satisfactory both in pressure loss and thermal conductance and should only be used in accordance with the
limitations identified below.
Approved document Part B Vol I 2006 Fire safety: section 2.6 and sequence
BS 9991:2011 Fire safety in the design, management and use of residential buildings: clause 32.2
Approved document Part F 2010 Ventilation: section 43.4-4.36, and table 5.2d
The length of pipework is to be designed on an individual basis for each property type for both NTD 204 and NTD 125 systems
Intumescent grills to be fitted at each penetration in fire floors
Not for use if penetrating fire walls
This duct is only suitable for use in a fully designed mechanical ventilation systems
Use rigid duct for the majority of your installation
Should not be installed where it can be crushed
A non-hardening acrylic sealant and aluminium duct tape should be used to connect ductwork.
Nuaire’s CONTRAP should be used with the ductwork to prevent backflow of moisture going to the fan unit.

LABC consider that, Nuaire Thermal Ducting, will meet the functional requirements of the Building
