ICD initiatives taken up byDulanga Coal Mining project

Dulanga Coal Mining Project has installed three solar dual water pumping and distribution system for nearby project affected villages. The system consists of a submersible pump which runs on power generated from PV solar cells. The pump draws water from the borewell to a 5000 liters Capacity storage tank which is dispensed through a standpost to the nearby project affected villages of Khuntijiharia, Kalamegha, Khapurikachhar.

The pump operates during the day from sunrise to sunset on both auto-mode (with level controllers in storage tank) and manual mode. After sunset, apart from the storage tank, water can also be drawn by using the manual hand-pumps fitted on the same borewell. This green initiative is particularly useful in areas having access to or intermittent power supply.

Low-e photovoltaic glass has been awarded Most Innovative Glass Product by Glass Magazine and the National Glass Association of the US. Low-e produces electricity and also matches and sometimes surpasses the properties of conventional low-e glass.

Using low-e photovoltaic glass, clients can save up to 90% of their electricity bill. With this amount of savings in cities like Los Angeles, the investment is amortized in only 3 years with annual average yields of 40%.

Even in places with extreme weather conditions like Alaska, savings of up to 30% can be made, giving clients an annual profitability of up to 22%.

Low-E Photovoltaic Glass has been developed for building envelopes. The glass unit combines the benefits of a traditional low-emissivity glass with the addition of the generation of free electricity from the sun.

The product relies on the traditional low-E glass makeup, with a semi-transparent V-inch PV interlayer to generate electricity. This configuration, with natural properties of the amorphous silicon solar technology, offers numerous benefits to a curtain wall or skylight project. The Low-E PV glass:

• Filters out 95 percent of ultraviolet radiation and up to 85 percent of infrared radiation, due to the silicon based material of the PV interlayer.

• Provides a solar heat gain coefficient ranging from 10 to 40 percent, depending on the configuration selected, thus providing enhanced thermal comfort.

• Allows for natural daylight, and maintains views, with a visible light transmittance up to 40 percent.

• Provides reflectivity from 7 to 9 percent, making it an attractive product option for south-facing façades in the Southern United States.

• Offers thermal insulation, as the glass is available as double and triple glazed units, providing U-values up to 0.13.

• Generates free electricity from the sun, reducing operations and management costs for the owner.Source: Manufacturer of Photovoltaic Glass for Buildings. Awarded as the Most Innovative Glass Product of USA and Named the Greatest Technology of the world in 2015.

Ministry of Power Initiative

thMinistry of Power, vide its order No. 13/6/2015-OM dated 16 July, 2015, has issued a direction that power from NTPC coal based power stations that complete 25 years shall be used for bundling with solar capacity being established by NTPC as part of Government of India's plans for enhancing renewable energy generation in the country. This was stated by Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal & New and Renewable Energy in a written reply to a question in the Rajya

thSabha on 9 May, 2016.

The Minister further stated that Ministry of Power, vide order No.13/6/2015-OM on

th17 July, 2015, issued an allocation of 2000 MW of power from Singrauli Super Thermal Power Station (SSTPS) for bundling with solar capacity of NTPC.

Among the beneficiaries of SSTPS, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, and Rajasthan have assented to the decision. Jammu and Kashmir, which is not an original beneficiary of SSTPS, has consented for availing bundled power.

The Alþingi (anglicised as Althing or Althingi) is the national parliament of Iceland. It is one of the oldest extant parliamentary institutions in the world together with the Jamtamot, o f Jamt land Coun ty, Sweden. The Althing was founded in 930 at Pingvellir, the "assembly fields" or " P a r l i a m e n t P l a i n s " , situated approximately 45 kilometres (28 mi) east of what later became the country's capital, Reykjavik. This event marked the beginning of the Icelandic Commonwealth. Even after Iceland's union with Norway in 1262, the Althing still held its sessions at Pingvellir until 1799, when it was discontinued for 45 years. It was restored in 1844 and moved to Reykjavik, where it has resided ever since. The present parliament building, the Alpingishus, was built in 1881.
