What is MVP?
NTEA’s Member Verification Program (MVP)
recognizes eligible companies in the work truck
industry for outstanding business practices,
validating successful implementation of quality
standards.
This program is free to NTEA member
companies.
Candidates must provide documentation that they
meet/exceed a given set of criteria.
Once qualified, companies receive MVP status for a
three-year term.
Upon term completion, companies have the opportunity
to renew by updating the necessary credentials.

MVP member companies are based in the U.S. and
Canada.

being an MVP member? MVP designation for a three-year term (renewable
status)
Ability to showcase MVP status in company promotional
materials
Recognition across multiple NTEA communication
platforms (including press release to key media contacts
and promotion in popular NTEA publications)
Listing in MVP online directory (ntea.com/mvpdirectory)
Honorary plaque and window clings
MVP status helps companies stand out to fleet managers and truck
dealers for their public commitment to quality and excellence.

What does it take to participate?
Complete an MVP application and attach the required
documentation.

Support from NTEA staff
There is no application fee. NTEA underwrites the cost
as part of an ongoing effort to enhance the core
competencies of its members.

• Seven required

MVP upfitter application
1. NHTSA registration
As a final-stage manufacturer or alterer, you’re
required to register with NHTSA.
Check your company’s listing at vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov.
You can also register there.
Five certification labels
Final, altered and
intermediate labels
For trucks with a GVWR
of 10,000 pounds or
less, the vehicle placard
or cargo modification
label is required

to maximum of 15
Must be certified — not just trained

5. Safety program
Internal quality system with four main parts:
1. Order management system
2. Truck check-in checklist
3. Final inspection checklist
4. Customer delivery checklist

QS 9000, ISO 9000 or OEM-quality programs also accepted.
6. Quality assurance program
You’re required to have one
hour of training per employee
per year (maximum 250 credit
hours)
Your company does a wide
variety of training:
Sales training
Safety training
Installation training
Forklift operator training
Production training
Product training
etc.
We have two forms to assist
you in recording your training
hours and taking credit for the
training
7. Education
This optional criteria is common for:
Companies that bid governmental municipalities and other companies
that require a sustainability policy as part of their bid packages
Companies that have recycling programs as part of their organizational
policies
8. Environmental policy
As part of a strong customer satisfaction process, many
companies have after-sale follow-up to help improve their
customer relations and quality.
