Farewell to our
Practicum Students
We would like to wish
our two practicum
students Mrs Kellie
Noske and Miss Jessica
Breen all the best as
they commence their
teaching careers. We
thank them for their
dedication and
enthusiasm during their
time at Henty Public
School.
Henty Machinery Field Days Next week is a busy time for our school and families
with the Henty Machinery Field Days. This is a great
opportunity for our school P and C in terms of
fundraising. Monies raised have assisted in supporting so
many programs at our school. We invite as many parent
and families to assist at the Field Days as possible, if
you have not already volunteered and can help please
contact the school. Any time, no matter how short will
be greatly appreciated. There are no required skills and
there will be plenty of people on hand to guide you, It is
a chance to meet other school families and play an active
role in your local community.
Gymnastics
Workshops Our gymnastics workshops have commenced and the
senior students thoroughly enjoyed their visit
yesterday. Our junior school will visit on Wednesday.
Students rotated through a series of six skills which
included tightrope, juggling, trampoline foam pit, floor
exercises, trapeze and hula hoops. A reminder to all
students travelling on Wednesday to wear sports
clothes and bring your recess and lunch as well as a
drink. Please see inside of Kalori for photos.
Wishing everyone a safe and
enjoyable holidays. Regards, Theresa

As it is the last week of term we will be completing and finalising the different terms activities.
This week in spelling we are looking at s and si as in treasure and television. Our sight words this
week are get and friend. We are completing our diagnostic maths assessments this week and
completing any additional activities.
This Wednesday K-3 will be attending the Fruit Fly circus in Albury. Children need to wear sports
uniform on Wednesday and must be at school before 9.30 as we will be leaving the school at 9.30.
Lunches must be brought from home as we will be have lunch and recess at the facility in Albury.
As we will be at Fruit Fly there will not be an assembly on Wednesday afternoon, assembly will be
held on Thursday morning at 9.15am.
Dance will be on Friday, children will need to wear their sport uniforms to school. Please ensure
that all notes and money have been brought in before the end of term.
On Thursday children will be borrowing, all books need to be returned so new books can be
borrowed for holidays.
Over the holidays I ask all parents and carers to please restock pencil cases with lead pencils, glue
sticks, rubbers and sharpeners. It has been very hard the last few weeks for children to complete
all set work in time as they spend so long looking for the essential items that they must have!
I wish everyone a happy and safe holiday break with your family and friends.
It was great to see the sea of colours representing our favourite football teams last
Friday. Lots of ‘black and white’ which was awesome!!! This week the children will be
travelling to Albury to visit the Flying Fruit Fly centre. This excursion is free of charge
and should be an exciting excursion for everyone.

School resumes for teachers and students Term 4 on Tuesday 6th October
Congratulations to all the Year 1 and 2 children who have worked so well in Term 3.
I hope everyone enjoys a happy and safe holiday.
Thank you to Holly and Katelyn for being excellent classroom leaders last week.
Congratulations to the students who have shown excellence and consistency by handing in their
homework each week this term. These students have been rewarded with a hot chip lunch today.
We have completed our child protection unit for PDHPE and the students in Year 3 have learnt how to
be assertive when they feel uncomfortable or unsafe. They have learnt how to apply the protection
strategy of ‘NO, GO, TELL’ and have created a network of trusted adults with whom they can
communicate. We have also completed our science unit and each student has created a video of their
peers in an interview situation.
The text type, description, has been a lot of fun to teach and learn. The students have finalised this
unit by writing poetry in various forms and schemes. This week in spelling, we will be revising various
spelling rules with the intention of applying these rules to our everyday writing. During maths we will be
complete the termly Diagnostic Review, work on word problems (literacy in numeracy) and perfect the
times tables.
Tomorrow, we will be visiting the Flying Fruit Fly Circus in Albury, all students must be at school before
9.30 in order to catch the bus. Please ensure that your child has a fully packed lunch box (including
fruito) and a drink bottle. The students must wear their sports uniform on Wednesday and Friday
(dance) this week.
If you are unable to supply your child’s costume for the gala night before this Friday, could you please
let me know. I understand that some students will be finalising their costumes during the holidays. If
you are certain that you cannot source the necessary items, could you please let me know and we will
make some arrangements at school.
Scripture will be held on Wednesday at 2.50 and there will be a short awards assembly on Thursday at
9.15. Class leaders: Josh and Jayden. Happy birthday to Maddison, Tyler and Owen who will celebrate
their birthdays during the holidays. On that note, I hope you all have an enjoyable and restful break and
good luck to all students who are playing in sports finals.
Year 2/3 Joanne Malmo
Welcome to the last week of term and what a great start to the week we have had so far!
Our visit to the Fruit Flying Circus was a fantastic experience. The students were met by Nat who
explained how the day was going to unfold. There were six activities for the groups to rotate through
with the students receiving help from current Fruit Fly coaches and performers. The student group was
also fortunate to witness two staff members display their skill and gracefulness on the trampoline. I
think there may have been a few children who went home quite tired from all the fun and physical
activity experienced yesterday. Please note dance for Year 4 will be on tomorrow Wednesday.
In spelling this week, we are focusing on the OO (as in boot), EW (as in screw) and UE (as in glue)
sounds. The students will understand that there are a high amount of graphemes that make the OO
sounds. In writing, we will be finishing off personal descriptions. The process this week will be to
self-edit the text, receive feedback from a peer for another edit before a final edit with the teacher.
Number patterns, odd & even numbers, squared number and prime numbers will also be investigated in
numeracy. Reading will continue to identify key points from the text and using the key points to answer
comprehension questions.
Thanks to everyone for returning the cyber safety note back to school. If you would like another copy
please ask your child to request the note in class. Also, there will be no homework for the final week of
term.
We wish everyone all the best for the upcoming holidays and all the best to everyone competing in
sporting finals.

This week in Maths we will be focusing on street directories, 4 digit multiplication and translation,
rotation and reflection.
Our focus sound this week for sound waves is y and u as in yoyo and computer.
In Science we will continue to complete our science assignments based on product roadmaps.
Yesterday years 4, 5, and 6 travelled to Albury to the Flying Fruit Fly Circus. All students said they
had an excellent time – especially jumping into the foam pit. Even Mrs Liston enjoyed herself in this
activity!!
On Friday, Samuel Male will partake in the Tennis Gala Day. On behalf of Year 5, we wish Samuel
the best of luck on this occasion.
Due to excursions to the Flying Fruit Fly Circus in Albury happening this week, we will be having our
school assembly on Thursday at 9:15am. Dance will be held for Year 5 tomorrow (Wednesday).
It is the last week of my internship before I return to University in Wagga Wagga. I would like to
