    Election FAQs

Q: Who is eligible to vote in Colorado?A: Every person who is 18 years of age or older at the time of the next election, a United States citizen and has residedin the state and precinct thirty days prior to the election.

Q: What does residence mean for purposes of voter registration and voting?A: When applied to voter registration, the term residence means the principal or primary home of a person. A residenceis a permanent building or part of a building and may include a house, apartment, condominium, room in a house, ormobile home. No vacant lot or business address is considered a residence address. You must have a residence in orderto register to vote. Once that residence is established, it exists until a new residence is established. You may not havemore than one residence.

Q: How do I change my residence?A: Any eligible elector who has moved may have his or her residence changed on the registration record by submitting aletter or form to the county clerk and recorder, either by mail or in person.

Q: What if Im in the military or a student?A: For the purposes of registration and voting, no person may gain residence because of that persons presence in thestate nor lose it by being absent while in military service or a student at any institution of higher learning.

Q: Is it legal for people to use my address for their voter registration even though they dont live here anymore?A: Yes. In many circumstances, it is the only address they can use for voter registration. For example, a member of thearmed services stationed out of state or a student attending school abroad who formerly resided at your address, mayuse that address for voter registration and voting purposes.

Q: Why do I have to register to vote?A: Voter registration is a means of determining the candidates and issues on which each voter is eligible to vote. Moststates require voters to register to vote a certain number of days prior to election day. Voter Registration also protects theintegrity of the ballot box by preventing voting in multiple locations.

Q: Does it cost anything to register to vote?A: No, registering to vote is free and easy. You can register with your county clerk in person or through mail-inregistration.

Q: What is provisional voting?A: Provisional voting guarantees every qualified and registered voter has the opportunity to vote on Election Day.

When voters arrive at the polling place on Election Day, the election judges check the poll book (a list of all of thejurisdiction's registered voters), to confirm that the voter is properly registered and at the correct polling place. Prior toprovisional voting, if a person's name was not in the poll book, they were not allowed to vote. With provisional voting, avoter whose name is not found in the poll book on Election Day is given a provisional ballot. Provisional ballots aredistinguished from regular ballots so that the election authority can later investigate the provisional voter's registrationstatus. On the August Primary election day, voters affiliated with a major party may cast a ballot for those candidates of thatparty. If there is a minor party contest for an office those affiliated with that minor party may cast a ballot for thosecandidates. Unaffiliated electors may declare affiliation with one of the major or minor parties and cast that party's ballot.

The nominated candidates from each party's primary ballot will be placed on the November General Election ballot. Thewinner of the November General Election will hold office.

There are so many people focused on national issues right now and not paying attention to our localgovernments who are selling out the house. It is important to know and keep abreast of what is happening on alllevels of government, but it is imperative that WE GET ENGAGED FULLY on the local level.

One of Arkansas grassroots movements biggest frustrations right now is that none of the grassroots candidatesprevailed, in the national elections. I have been asked for the past week how did that happen, my response isPeople do not want to hire the CEO of a Corporation that has no resume

If we are going to be successful at changing the face of politics in Arkansas and ultimately the nation we needto learn how to operate in the system. My daddy use to say play their game by your rules.

Arkansans have an opportunity to make effective change NOW and to help grow conservative candidates forlater to run for national office. Candidates we have seen operate and prove their allegiance to fiscalresponsibility and Constitutional adherence.

Our Republic has the wonderful opportunity for citizens to serve their communities, state and nation by beingan elected official. Representatives play a vital role in helping to implement the changes so desperately neededtoday. Things like shaping policy and helping to direct communities to be fiscally responsible. Every officedeserves people who are grounded in the principles of liberty and individual freedom. That is why we havedesigned our candidate training specifically for state and local candidates

At American Majoritywe travel the state (and the nation for that matter) encouraging people to get informed, engaged and empowered. We share with people the importance of getting involved on local and state levelsbecause that is where their greatest power lies. But the purpose is twofold, this is also where the majority of ourUS Senators and Congressmen come from.

Arkansas School Board positions filing date is July 21st-26th and City Council filing is Aug 4th-24th. These datesare approaching quickly, key positions are available in each district and city.

Running for elected office is challenging and sometimes overwhelming. It will take work but AmericanMajoritys Candidate Training will empower you. You will become aware of fundraising, organizing

volunteers, coordinating events, writing letters to the editor, and, of course, reaching out to prospective voters.

So, consider attending one of our candidate trainings..you may surprise yourself and decide to run for office.Go ahead, jump in with both feet!

    You Cut!byacmaurerco | 8:08 am, May 29, 2010 |

Eric Cantor (R-VA), the Republican Whip in the House, has a novel idea.

Each week, the GOP offers 5 spending cut choices on his Republican Whip website. When I first got the email about

this, I didnt quite get it. I thought it was a one-time deal. Hardly. Every week there are five different oneseach

one worthy of enacting in its own right. You can vote on them either on the website or by texting. And if you dont

like any of them, theres a spot to suggest your own.

The first week, 280,000 people voted; the second week 520,000.

Rep. Michele Bachmann offered this weeks winning cut on the House Floor; an amendment to eliminate a pay raise

for federal government employees saving the taxpayers over $30 billion. The up-or-down vote was clear; the

majority in the U.S. House voted to allow pay raises for non-military federal employees, while the rest of the

country is facing pay cuts. Votes are recorded, of course, and you can see them from Cantors site. There is even

video of the debate. (Having Minnesota heritage, I never get tired of listening to Michele Bachmann.)

    On this particular one:

Mike Coffman and Doug Lamborn voted yes to the cut.

Betsy Markey, Ed Perlmutter, Jared Polis and John Salazar voted no to the cut.

Diana DeGette didnt bother to voteor else didnt want her vote on record.

Heres a great way to make your voice heard to someone who is actually listening. The spend-o-crats will likely vote

it all downuntil November. Then the new Congress will have an idea of where to begin.

For more ideas on spending cuts, go to Downsizing Government.

    Facebook: A Beginners Guide

If Facebook was a country, it would be the 3rd largest in the world.

Needless to say, Facebook is a dominant force in the new way we communicate. American Majority employees

can often be seen sharing videos, comments, pictures, and links with friends and past trainees (instead ofworking). Facebook offers activists and candidates a platform to increase transparency and open lines ofcommunication with citizens from across the country. Activism is no longer bound by geographic location andcampaign donations no longer subject to a local email list.

Our Facebook Guide will walk you through setting up a profile and organizations fan page. We will alsodiscuss ways to increase your fan base, hack the content on your page, attach other social networks, and muchmore.
