What are we about?
An honors organization that recognizes and elevates high achievers. NSCS provides career and graduate school connections, leadership
and service opportunities and offers nearly half a million dollars in scholarships annually. NSCS
wants you to deeply commit to scholarship, leadership and service so as to impact this campus and local communities every day.

Senior citizen prom: Organized a valentine’s prom for the elderly so they could have an opportunity to come out
of their routine and have a good time. We were able to interact with them and have quality time.

Leadership workshop: Designed to highlight the different leadership styles that a person exhibits. Participants will realize
their strongest and weakest leadership attributes in order to work more effectively in group settings.

Ice Cream Social: A social event organized so NSCS members could get to know each other better

Planning to Achieve Collegiate Excellence: NSCS partnered with Poe middle school (20 min away) to meet
with students from that school on a recurring basis to both encourage them to graduate high school and excel in their
studies

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID): National college preparation program
offered as an academic support class held during the school day in 23 Fairfax County middle and
high schools.

Boys and Girls Club of Fairfax: NSCS members assist with after school programs and serve as positive role models/mentors.

March to College Day (March): NSCS host PACE program participants on their campus for a day of activities to give them an example of what a day in the life of a college student can feel like.

Cherry Blossom Festival Picnic (April 6): A picnic during the Cherry Blossom Festival were members can just come out and enjoy DC, the flowers, and spend time with each
other.

Relay for Life (April 27): When you walk to end cancer at a Relay event, it's your opportunity to not only honor cancer
survivors and remember loved ones lost, but also to raise awareness about what we can do to stay well from cancer
and raise money to help fuel the world's largest walk to end cancer.

Career Fair (Feb 20th & 21st): This is a campus-wide fair for organizations that have internships, co-ops, full-time jobs, and part-time jobs. It is open to
all students and alumni of George Mason University.
