Welcome to the North Quadrangle Residential and Academic Complex. Blending residential and academic facilities to enhance the connection of students' living and learning experiences, North Quad is an exciting environment. Here, interactions among students and faculty flow from classrooms to hallways to offices to living quarters — all under the same roof. Innovative in design and advanced technologies, North Quad features state-of-the-art classrooms and labs, television/video production studios, and faculty offices for five information and communications-related university programs. It is also home for 450 residential students, with a community theme of “International Impact.” Enjoy your visit to the experience of North Quad.

Dining Hall

Seating 180 for meals plus a café, here students and faculty enjoy a variety of fresh foods served at different stations. To complement the global theme of the community, Residential Dining Services features international cuisine in the menu selections. With a complete audio-visual system and large drop-down projection screen, the dining hall also can accommodate special functions and events.

Room 2435

Room 2435 is a collaboratively programmed space intended to showcase a rich variety of content, such as student and faculty produced work, international news, films and documentaries. Room 2435 provides an ideal location for lectures, workshops, design jams, poster sessions and other group activities.

The Gayle Morris Sweetland Center for Writing was endowed by UM alumnus John Sweetland in 1998. The Center provides writing support to students, oversees LSA’s First-Year and Upper-Level Writing Requirements, teaches writing courses for students at every level, and fosters writing in new media. The Language Resource Center exists to serve, support and promote the study and instruction of foreign languages, cultures, and literatures at the University of Michigan; providing a rich collection of audio, video and print materials, instructional consultation, and specialized facilities for using foreign language video and software. In Screen Arts & Cultures, we create and study the moving image as seen on multiple screens—from movie theaters to TV to computer monitors. With a strong undergraduate and doctoral programs, SAC offers a vibrant intellectual and artistic community.
