HOW TO BECOME A JUNIOR RANGER

Anyonebetweentheagesof6and12canbecomea JuniorRanger.Justcompletetherequirementslisted belowandlivebytheJuniorRangerPromiseandyou willbeaJuniorRanger.

1) Attend the 28 minute orientation film in the auditorium andhaveastaffmemberinitialtheJuniorRanger CheckList.

2) Completetheactivitiesinthebooklet.Ifyouget stumped,askyourparents,friends,avolunteeror aparkrangerforhelp.

3) CompletetheJuniorRangerCheckList.

4) SubmitthisbooklettoaparkrangerattheVisitor CenteratthePlainsHighSchool.

The Boyhood Farm (10am-5pm) Located2milesfromPlains.TheCartersgrew manycropstosellandraisedlivestock.The Cartersmovedouttothisfarmin1928when JimmyCarterwas4yearsold.Thefarmis locatedinthecommunityofArchery.Animals thatlivedonthefarmanddemonstrationscan beseenatthefarm. Plains High School (9am-5pm) JimmyandRosalynnCarterattendedgrammar schoolandhighschoolinthisbuildingbuilt in1921.Itnowservesasthemuseum,visitor, andeducationalcenter.Theschoolisalso recognized as the Official State School of Georgia.

The Depot (9am-4:30pm) Thisbuildingwasbuiltin1888onlandthat wasdonatedtothetownofPlainsbyM.L. Hudson.ItservedasJimmyCarter’s CampaignHeadquartersatthesuggestion ofRosalynnCarter.Exhibitsthatfocusonthe 1976PresidentialCampaigncanbeviewedhere.
