FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

May 10, 2020

Now you moms are really blessed since your kids are with you 24/7. I know it’s hard but I think it can also be a joy. I’m alone so I appreciate the value company can have. I wish all of our moms the blessings of peace, patience and joy on Mother’s Day and always. Enjoy your kids and bless them with your kindness, love and security. REFLECTION Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the

works that I do, and will do greater ones than these.

Who can imagine doing greater works than Jesus; yet, this is

what Jesus says in today's Gospel. Even with him saying that, I

doubt that any of us is inclined to take it literally. But some do

come close. Today is Mother’s Day, and mothers can be a very

impressive group of people. Most mothers are known for their

unconditional and sacrificial love, their wisdom and guidance,

their generosity and mercy. Mothers are life-givers, and the

original Mother’s Day Proclamation affirms that in a very

profound way: “Arise, then, women of this day! Arise all women

who have hearts, whether your baptism be of water or of tears!

Say firmly: ‘…Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn all

that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy, and

patience. We women of one country will be too tender to those of

another country to allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs.’

From the bosom of a devastated Earth a voice goes up with our

own. It says ‘Disarm! Disarm!’ …take counsel with each

other as to the means whereby the great human family can live in

peace....to promote the alliance of the different nationalities, the

amicable settlement of international questions, and the great and

general interests of peace.”
