Novero’s mission is to enable the Connected Car. Whatever is your way to bring mobile into the car, Novero accompanies you heading forward. As natural extension of this expertise, Novero starts a new era with the aim to create new applications and service offering through the perfect integration of the TCU into the Cloud. The MAKO architecture is born.

WHAT is the idea behind? The car is an enormous source of data. Just think about the different data that you can get during the driving experience by activating certain sensors, from the GPS to geo-localize the car to the Network Antenna to measure the network coverage. Those data matched up with the data coming from the daily life of the motor-ist, even a simple personal calendar, create value. Novero challenge is exactly this: create new algorithms and connect different devices to generate new innovative services on demand. And new business models associ-ated to those.

WHY it matters?Our 17+ year lessons learned working with the Automotive OEM showed how complex and critical the inte-gration of different components in the car is, to create value for the driver. The introduction of Smart Devices into the car and the storage of data into the Cloud have impacted the way to think about the Connected Car.The MAKO architecture uses the Cloud to add dynamically new service ideas by short time-to-market, unusu-ally short for the Automotive World; differentiating the Service Offering between various market segments; adding communities to the connected life of the driver. Over-the-air (OTA) refers to the process of wireless data transfer on a device. This method plays an important role in the execution of firmware updates (Firmware Update Over-the-Air, FOTA). In the mobile communica-tions sector software updates for smartphones via WLAN or mobile network are ubiquitous. Now the auto-motive industry is discovering the benefits of uncomplicated updates, too.

WHAT is the product's value proposition for the end user? And for the OEM?There is a strong demand from both, OEMs and consumers for frequent/urgent updates of the ECU software via cellular networks. Urgent software fixes, feature upgrades and security patches can be deployed conven-iently within a short time. Recalls that may damage the OEM’s reputation can be avoided in most cases.

HOW is Novero FOTA working? Novero provides trusted TCUs for OEMs in high volume for the US, Chinese and European market since 2012. A Novero Gateway is the natural choice for FOTA, as it features a cellular modem and has access to the vehicle network. It can update both its own software as well as the software of other ECUs in the vehicle. Most im-portantly, it is a trusted device, integrated into the OEM‘s security topology.

The charging of smartphones in the car can represent an unpleasant issue. With Novero Wireless Charging, mobile devices can be charged smoothly and quickly without any cable. No unaesthetic cradles anymore! However the phone is placed in the tray – a multi-coil system always ensures the best possible charging.

WHAT is the value proposition?The intensive usage of the smartphone during the daily life generates anxiety in the frequent case of out of battery. Novero solves this issue for motorists offering a comfortable and quick charge of their mobile devices in the car without any cable.

HOW it works? Novero‘s automotive wireless charging solution is based on a multiple inductive coil system and advanced software to ensure that no hazardous situation occur, no matter in which position the phone is placed in the tray.

The core technology of the Novero car charging station is Qi. Qi is an internationally valid interface standard developed by the Wireless Power Consortium. It is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. The charging process automatically starts; and it switches off, if the battery is full or the device is removed.In the case that the end user smartphone is not compatible with the Qi standard the system switches off im-mediately the Qi standard and enables the convenient and secure charging of the device by protecting the phone.

Bluetooth Low Energy is the wireless communication system, which allows short range connectivity with lowest power consumption for plenty of applications. Even in the case of high sensitive data like sensor data connection, link to the OBD dongle or vehicle remote control, Bluetooth Low Energy is a secure link from the smart device to car data.

WHAT is the value proposition?Car data represent a source of exciting applications which open to the vehicle’s owner the richness of performance data, vehicle diagnostics details as well as the simple control of the car remotely. Novero, in cooperation with baimos technologies, offers the highest level of security in accessing the car from a smart device through the Bluetooth Low Energy component as part of the Novero Telematics Units.

HOW it works? Bluetooth Low Energy provides the communication interface between the car, connected sensors and smart devices.

BlueID using the Bluetooth Low Energy communication technology is a self-sufficient, highly secure platform for authorization management. The software-based BlueID platform makes it possible to receive sensitive authorizations in a secure manner using iOS and Android apps, allowing users e.g. to unlock the door of the car. BlueID is invisible to users and enhances the convenience of applications.To ensure the necessary permissions security on the smartphone, BlueID uses a Trust Center based on a Pub-lic Key Infrastructure (PKI). The patented BlueID technology enables full functionality even without an online connection.

WHY it matters?Bluetooth is the industries de facto standard for local connectivity. The Novero Bluetooth Low Energy commu-nication technology integrated in the Novero TCU enables multiple services and applications, with no limit for future expansions.
