    A Huge Hi to Members and Friends,we hope thisnewsletter finds you all well and happy! Only 8 more weeks untilChristmas, is it just me, or does anyone else out there think thisyear has gone to fast? I can still remember Christmas 2011! Mymailbox has begun to be daily choked up with Christmas junkmail! The Silly Season is upon us and the pressure begins tobuy all the latest and greatest gadgets! Personally I would muchrather something homemade with time, care and thought! Justremember Christmas doesnt have to put you in debt and causeheartache! I have put down a list of suggestions to survive

    Christmas and emerge back out the other side, still intact! Seeinside Newsletter.I am pleased to let you all know the J R McKenzie applicationsfor uniform assistance for 2013 have all been processed andhave left our hands. We are hopeful to hear back early next year.Thank you to all the members for your effort involved in thisprocess. I have really enjoyed getting to know you all andprocessing your applications.Birthright Taupo Inc has had a lot happening this month withGuest Speakers at Coffee/Connect Group and we even had agroup outing! We attended the presentation by Nathan Mikaere -Wallis, on Building Resilience in Children; this was combinedwith a super fun Bingo session, both held at the Taupo Cossie

    Club. Not only did we all have fun, we learnt something and tooksome tips away with us. Thank you to all the members andfriends for coming along.

    Make your own Xmas tree decorations with the kids; these can be given out as presents and keepsakes. Give Homemade Vouchers out to Family & Friends ie: Vouchers for Coffee & catch up, Dinner together

    at your house, Monthly DVD/PJ nights, Hug Vouchers, voucher for one hour of your time, vouchers for

    the kidsget out of washing/drying dishes for one night free etc. Think of something that is special to

    the child or recipient and turn it into gift voucher.

    Sometimes its our time that is the most valuable and means the most to someone!

    How about a themed Christmas , join with a friend and their children, or a close neighbor, spilt the cost ofthe food and keep it really simple try a Hawaiian theme kids make their own kebabs cooked on the

    BBQ, dress in op shop Hawaiian shirts, sarongs and flip flops, have an afternoon full of games!

    Try a $5 Christmas all gifts given are $5 and under. Buy one special gift for yourself and the kids like a 1000 piece puzzle, or a swing ball set, or a

    volleyball/badminton set something you can all do together that you will get a lot of use out of.

    Bake: find a cheap, easy to make Christmas cake and divide the mixture into miniature loaf tin sizes, thiswill give you more out of one, ice and personalize as individual gifts.

    Get creative: buy a plain pillow case and some cheap textile paint to personalize for each child. Make a Christmas tree Stencil, buy a tin of spray paint and use it to stencil old Newspaper, when dry use

    as wrapping paper.

    Give each child a box with the things to make their own kite 1.black rubbish bags (or you can purchasecheap clear plastic from Placemakers or Bunnings, if you get clear plastic, this can be painted). 2 . Thin

    bendable bits of doweling or cheap bamboo stakes from the Warehouse, (Placemakers or

    Bunnings).3.Scissors.4.strong clear tape.5.extra old plastic shopping bags for the kites tail.

    Birthright understands the diversity of whanau in our communities: Most children in New Zealand will live in a

    home that is not comprised of a mother and a father at some point in their life. Birthright supports families andwhanau in order that everyone has the opportunity to realise their full potential.

    Birthright assists families to plan for their own development, to effectively use their own and community

    resources and to achieve integration in the community. Specific services and practical assistance are offered to

    the family or its members in the context of their personal aspirations and goals, at a time and in a form relevant

    to them.

    Birthright works with single parent families to facilitate the growth of confidence, skills and resilience within the

    family unit and its individual members. Membership Fee $10 per year and must be paid to access funding on

    your behalf.Our Focus: To provide support and assistance to single parent Families/Whanau.
