Celebration of the Eucharist

Weekend Saturday Vigil: 5:30 PM Sunday 9 AM & 11 AM

Weekdays: 8:30AM Monday Tuesday Wednesday & Friday

Sacrament of Reconciliation Saturday at 4:30 PM or by appointment

Dear Parishioners,

I want to bring to your attention 4 events that are happening during the month of November. The first is, this Wednesday, November 9th, Chuck Sidoti, chaplain at South Point Hospital will be leading an Evening of Reflection on the Year of Mercy. We will be closing out the year of mercy on the Feast of Christ the King. This evening of reflection is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to reflect on how we might keep the power and significance of mercy alive beyond this year long celebration.

Second, I would like to gather with all of our parish Eucharistic Ministers for a brief time of reflections well as an opportunity to review once again the ritual action that is part of serving in this important ministry. There are 3 possible times, (Monday, November 7 at either 1pm or 7pm; or Saturday morning at 10am). Providing 3 different opportunities for this one hour meeting should ensure that every Eucharistic Minister will be able to make at least one of the time slots.

Third, on Sunday, November 20th at 7pm, Resurrection Parish will join with the other churches in Solon for an Interfaith Prayer Service. The evening prayer will take place at Advent Lutheran (corner of Harper and Cannon Rd). It is important for us to gather with our brothers and sisters of various faith traditions in order that we might focus on what it is that we share in common. I do hope you will be able to join us for this evening prayer and time to socialize.

Finally, I want to remind our young people in grades 1st -6th grade about the Christmas Card competition. Entries of drawings, paints or photography depicting the Angel heralding the Birth of Savior are due by Sunday, November 20th. The parish Christmas Card with the winning entry will be mailed out to all parishioners in the middle of December.

Have a great week everyone. Fr. Tom Dragga

(4) We commit ourselves to serve others and reach out to the poor in response to their needs. Our work for justice extends to advocating with integrity for positive change in society and the Church.

Thanksgiving Food Baskets Church of the Resurrection continues its long-standing project of feeding those in need at the holidays with Thanksgiving food baskets on Monday November 21. Last year we provided generous quantities of non-perishable food, paper and hygiene items, turkeys and Giant Eagle gift cards to about 150 households. There are several ways you can be a part of the project this year. We’re accepting

donations of non-perishable food every weekend in the Food Offering baskets. Cash donations to the Charity and Justice fund help purchase gift cards, diapers and other needed items for the baskets. Frozen turkeys of all sizes will be accepted beginning the weekend prior to basket distribution. Opportunities to volunteer are available as well, on Sunday November 20 and Monday November 21. For your convenience you can pick up a grocery bag in the Gathering Area. It is appreciated.

(5) Rooted in our faith traditions, we strive to be innovative, prophetic, and courageous in leadership and service. In our commitment to the spiritual formation of each member, we are open to explore new ways to meet the needs among us in response to the signs of our times.

To ensure you are receiving our Mail Chimp email notifications, please share your email addresses with the parish office. And to receive the bulletin on line, download our free app, search for Church of the Resurrection

Thea Bowman Center Thea Bowman Center in partnership with Nathan Hale School located on Martin Luther King Blvd is in desperate need of help for children 5 to 14 years old. The goal is to help children with reading and math skills. The program will be at Nathan Hale from 2:30 to 4 PM. Parents are supporting this project and the Thea Bowman Center is helping project by trying to recruit tutors. Tutors can give whatever hours/week that they can do: 1 day or 2 days and we ask people to be as consistent as possible because you will be assigned to up to 5 students depending on how much time you can give. Your help would be a major BOOST to the children in this school and to the Mt Pleasant Community. The school has identified about 80 children for the tutoring program. The children will receive a free meal through the food bank. This will be a work in progress but I feel confident that we can help the children/school if we can get the tutor support needed. Please contact Ella Thomas, Executive Director of the Thea Bowman Center, 11901 Oakfield Ave, Cleveland, Ohio 44105. 216-491-0699 or [email protected].

Sunday, November 20th at 7PM all of the Churches in the Solon area are invited to gather at Advent Lutheran Church (Corner of Harper and Cannon Rd) for a Thanksgiving Holiday Interfaith Prayer Service. As we come together to give thanks to God for the many blessings we have received, it will also be an opportunity for us to pray for blessing upon the newly elected president of our nation, an end to the war and violence in Iraq and Syria as well as the conflicts that plague our own cities and streets and to be conscious of those who go without food, shelter or clothing. We invite everyone who participates to bring a non-perishable food item.

Support Groups The Body of Christ in the Diocese of Cleveland is called to reverence each person as a unique reflection of God's presence in our midst. We commit ourselves to become a community of care, support, formation, reconciliation and witness to justice with and among gay and lesbian persons, their parents, family members, and all who minister in and with this community. http://www.dioceseofcleveland.org/gayandlesbianfamilyministry/about.htm

St. Mary Church, 340 North Main St., Hudson 44236 hosts a Family Support group which meets the fourth Thursday of every month at 7PM in room 106. The goal of this ministry is not to attempt to alter any person’s sexual orientation; rather, it is our goal to support all persons in their quest for wholeness and holiness. Any questions, contact Lori Joseph at [email protected] or 330.653.8118 ext 233.

Ministry of Presence Do you have an interest in visiting a parish member who can’t get to mass on the weekend? Or residents in a nursing facility or patients in a hospital? All of these people are eager for the Body of Christ – in communion and in the community. The number of nursing facilities within our parish boundaries continues to grow, and so we need more Eucharistic ministers to visit the sick and homebound. Training will be provided. Please contact Lisa at ext 24 or [email protected].
