Opportunities & Special Events

Ugly Sweater Christmas Party On Saturday, December 10th at 5:00pm, the Sparks Family will be hosting an Ugly Sweater Christmas Party at their home at 230 N Sate St. in Sullivan. There will be food, games, & an ugly sweater contest. We will provide the main course and the drinks, asking those who come to bring a side dish or dessert, please see the signup sheet on table in the foyer. We will also have a White Elephant gift exchange with a $10 limit, please mark male or female on the gift. We hope to see you!

C h r i s t m a s C a r o l i n g On Sunday, December 18th at 6:00pm, there will be no Family Service that night, instead we will be Christmas Caroling to shut-ins around Shelburn. This is for all ages and there will be a signup sheet soon in the foyer. Come back to the church afterwards for

fellowship, hot chocolate and desserts!

Annual Business Meeting We will be holding our Annual Business meeting on Sunday, December 4th following the service. The Council will be presenting the 2017 Church Budget for approval and the Nominating Committee will be presenting the Nominees for the

available positions. Please see the insert for Nominees and Deacon biographies. You must be a member and at least 16 to vote. The Budget is available at the Welcome Center.

Christmas Cantata The Cantata will be on Sunday, December 11th at 7:00pm. It will consist of the Children’s Choir, along with the Adult choir, who will be presenting “O Night Divine”. Please come and bring your friends and

family to enjoy a night of music to celebrate the birth of our Savior!

Youth Group (Grades 6-12)! Join us tonight at 6:00pm in the Upper Room. We'll be going through a lesson from the Gospel Project. Don't forget to join us on Tuesday nights at 6:30pm. We'll be finishing up Colossians and then we'll move on to another book of the Bible. Remember, Sunday school starts at 9:00am in the Upper

Room and don't forget to invite a friend to all of our events. See you soon!

Grades 6-12

We currently have need of Nursery workers for Sunday evening worship services, as well as, Tuesday evenings during the Bible studies. If you can serve in those ministries, please contact Pastor Logan here at the church.

Adult Choir Choir practice tonight at 6:45pm. Dress rehearsal will be Sunday, December 4th at 6:00pm. We will present the Christmas Cantata “O Night Divine” on December 11th at 7:00pm. The Children’s Choir will be singing as part of the Christmas cantata. Practice this Sunday at 5:00pm in the Children’s Church classroom. Dress rehearsal (don’t have to be dressed up) will be Sunday the 4th at 4:30pm in the sanctuary, and reserve Saturday the 10th at 9:00am for additional practice.

Tuesday Night Bible studies will be held as normal with the exception of the 27th, no studies that night.

Shelburn Community Kitchen

FREE Meals on Tuesday 5:30-6:30pm On the menu this week: Meatloaf & Cheesy Garlic Mashed Potatoes! If you are attending the Tuesday evening Bible studies, we invite you to

come and eat before the studies! With the larger crowd we are serving, we are more in need of desserts. Please have deserts here by 5:00pm. Thank you!

Announcements

Family Worship Service Tonight at 6:00pm we will be having our Family Worship Service in the sanctuary, led by Pastor Logan. There will be a nursery for infants through Pre-K. Please come, and let’s worship together!

Women’s Bible Study

On Tuesday the 29th at 6:30pm, we will be starting a new Women’s Bible Study, based on the book by Kelly Minter, “Nehemiah”. Discover what God has put in your heart to do through the study of His Word, and let God break your heart for the lost and hurting, because a breaking heart is often what God uses to restore the broken. No book required for this study.

Men’s Bible Study On Tuesdays at 6:30pm, Chuck Thompson will be teaching through the Spiritual Disciplines of the Christian Life. You can still join in this study.

Adult Bible On Tuesdays at 6:30pm, Pastor Ben will continue his study out of the book of Exodus. Anyone is welcome to join this study.

Missions: All Around Us

Our FBCS Food Pantry continues to provide assistance to the Shelburn community, and we ask that you help us keep our shelves stocked by dropping off donations of canned goods and other non-perishable items whenever you can. We are currently in need of monetary

donations for the purchase of food. If you can help in any way, please make check payable to the church and write “Food Pantry” in the memo. Thank you!

The Missions Committee will soon be meeting to allocate the missions budget for 2017. If you are aware of a mission/ministry organization or a missionary you'd like for them to consider, contact one of the Missions Committee members and let them know who, what, and why as regards to that mission, in the form of a

letter request. Missions Committee members are Misty Hunt (chair), Melanie Bailey, Phil Whigham, Camil Catlin, Merrell McNeill, Brad Lutes, Ben Short and Beth Jennings. If you have a passion for our church's active participation in missions and would like to further that cause, why not check into serving on the Missions Committee in 2017? Contact Misty Hunt for info.

Mission Trip 2017 If you would be interested in serving on a mission trip to the Kairos Christian School in Guatemala next year, and to learn about the different opportunities to serve in that community, please see Misty Hunt. We are

currently looking at a trip in the fall of 2017.

Church Mailboxes Everyone has a church mailbox, based on family units, in the hallway beside the sanctuary. Please check, & if you do not see your family’s name for a

mailbox, please see Misty Hunt to get one. Announcements or information are placed in your mailboxes often, check them on a regular basis so to be updated, especially through the holidays.
