NEW ALTAR SERVERS INSTALLED Congratulations to our new altar servers, Zoe Santilli, Keely Hughes, Jaquelyn & Emily Drain and Nancy Gfeller who will be installed during our 10:30 am Mass this weekend. We would also like to acknowledge Luke Lomma and Kevin Keller who have served our St. Peter Claver community for the last five years. We thank them all for sharing their gifts with us!

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE

Families feed the hungry, give drinks to thirsty toddlers and welcome strangers and even estranged relatives into our homes. We clothe children and visit family members who are sick and imprisoned. The routine actions of family life are religious and priestly for we make Christ present in what we do. Family life is Beatitude life.

OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST THE KING

First Reading: Ezekiel 34:11-12, 15-17 This passage beautifully describes how the Lord God, as shepherd, will tend his flock. He will rescue those who are lost, bring back those who stray, heal the sick, and “pasture” all.

Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 15:20-26, 28 Paul once again stresses the significance of Christ’s resurrection in the total divine plan, emphasizing that Christ’s rising means that those who believe in him will also rise after death. Christianity, he argues, is meaningless if it concerns only this life on earth. In the end, even death will be destroyed, and “God will be all in all.”

Gospel: Matthew 25:31-46 With words both poetic and vivid, Jesus tells the disciples that since he is present in all people, whatever they do to “one of my least brothers” they do to him; and whatever they fail to do to his “least,” they fail to do to him.

READINGS FOR THE WEEKND OF NOVEMBER 30 First Reading: Isaiah 63:16b-17, 64:2-7

Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:3-9 Gospel: Mark 13:33-37

A THANKSGIVING DAY PRAYER

Loving God, as we celebrate Thanksgiving Day, help us to be mindful of Your many blessings - the beauty and richness of our land and in the freedom we enjoy. Thank You for the gift of grace that helps us to know You and follow Your Son, Jesus. Today we recognize that all our blessings come from You: the love of family and friends, our homes, our work, our Church and community, and many people who care for us. Bless our Thanksgiving celebrations and the wonderful foods You give to us from Your bounty. We ask this in the Name of Jesus.

Amen.

ST. PETER CLAVER ANNUAL COLLECTION We are very grateful for the generosity shown by so many to our Annual Collection. If you have not yet had an opportunity to return your pledge card, please do so as soon as possible. Every gift is welcomed and sincerely appreciated. Thank you.

CATHOLIC CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT

The Collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) provides funding for groups that make lasting change and uplift the poor in the United States. CCHD grants improve education, support economic development, and help communities provide housing in low-income neighborhoods. Help us continue to defend human dignity and aid those living on the margins of society. Please give to the CCHD Collection.

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA

All are welcome to join us on Saturday, December 13th from 8:00 – 11:00 am for Breakfast with Santa ~ a St. Peter Claver tradition. Tickets will be on sale in the Parish Center beginning November 22/23 after all Masses and up until the event at a cost of $5.00 per person; No charge for children 2 and under. Breakfast will consist of pancakes, sausage, coffee, juice, and milk. In addition, each child will receive a free photo with Santa.

ADVENT GIVING TREE Once again this year, the St. Peter Claver Advent Giving Tree will be located near the sacristy beginning November 22 through December 7th. The colored gift tags hanging on the tree represent several worthy organizations and include a variety of needed "gifts". Please choose and return your unwrapped gift, with its tag firmly attached, no later than December 7th at 12:00 noon. In addition to the tags, there

are boxes located near the Giving Tree for organizations that have requested gift cards in lieu of gifts. Anyone who would like to help the Knights of Columbus with the gift distribution, please contact Regina Molloy at

(860)-961-7804. Thank you to all in our parish family for your continued generous support of this long-standing tradition.

SAVE THE DATE… AS we begin ADVENT In response to Pope Francis’ call to lead people to a deeper love and understanding of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Father Henry Frascadore and Still Small Voice have joined together to create a moving hour of poetry and song. On Tuesday evening December 2nd they have been invited to share this program with us. It will be held in our Church sanctuary from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Signed copies of Father Frascadore's books will be available for purchase as well.

Stewardship Corner ~ When the Son of Man comes in glory, may we be among those who have fed the hungry, welcomed the stranger, and clothed the naked. For Jesus tells us clearly that it is those who have demonstrated good stewardship by sharing their gifts with the less fortunate who will receive God’s blessing and inherit the kingdom.

This Sunday, we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King! Jesus tells us the story of the final judgment to show us what kind of a King He is. He is not a king interested in power and glory - but in serving the needs of others. Since Jesus is our King and we are his loyal followers, we are called to be like Him and to live according to His will. In today's Gospel, Jesus teaches us that his judgment of us will be based on one thing - how we treat the least ones among us - the poor and needy. Jesus takes this one step further. He says that whenever we show mercy to others in need, we show mercy to Jesus Himself!
