Your company needs your Fees Now that Cinderella rehearsals are well under way, some members need to be reminded that, as agreed at the AGM, production fees should be paid within one month of the start of rehearsals. Please see Paul (Treasurer) or Val (Chairman) on rehearsal nights to pay any outstanding amounts. Spring Production 2010 Out of Sight, Out of Murder by Fred Carmichael will be staged from 5 th to 8 th May. Jo Webb will be directing. Social Events The Christmas Special will be a bingo evening with Christmas buffet on Saturday 12th December, held in Southsea Sea Angling Club, starting at 7.30pm. The cost per head for food is £3 per person.All names and numbers to Tina or Steve, by 1st December. You can bring your friends and family to this fun evening, all are welcome and remember, the more that attend, the bigger the cash prizes!

There will be a quiz night on Saturday 27th February 2010. More details to follow.

Jelly Rollers’ gigs in November

This band will be playing their good time music on three evenings during November.

The Auckland Arms-Netley Road-Southsea, Sunday 8th November.The RMA Tavern-Cromwell Road-Eastney, Saturday 14th November.The Winchester Arms-Winchester Road-Portsmouth, Sunday 22nd November.Entry is free at all of these, come and enjoy an evening of fun live music.

Message from Nick ScovellNick is the author of The Profane Autumn of Sherlock Holmes and he sent the following message to Valerie Bird who directed our recent production of this play:“I got the DVD and the programme. Many thanks for dropping them round. I watched the DVD last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Such a pity I could not make it to see it live. Well done to all – especially Rew and Lorna. I think they gave very good performances…”

Congratulations to Bill Bill Furlong has completed his walk along the Great Wall of China, which he did to raise funds for Help the Aged. “Well done, Bill!”On his return, he presented Phoenix Chairman, Val, with a soft toy Panda as a present for Phoenix Players. This mascot will be attending all future productions and social events!

Congratulations to ValCongratulations to Valerie and John Bird on the birth of their first great-grandson, Connor, on Thursday 29th October.The first male to be born on Val’s side of the family for five generations!

Nora’s “Thank You”The following message received from Nora:“Thank you for my surprise 80th birthday party. The flowers and cards were lovely, and the presents. It was nice to see so many faces and I do not know how you all kept quiet, that must be a first.Thanks to Tina and Val for the food and the cake was really wonderful.”
