The day after I arrived at Living Valley Springs, a health retreat outside Kin

Kin, Australia, the area was flooded by torrential rains. The staff who live off-site were marooned at the retreat overnight, and many of us were confined to our quarters from early Monday afternoon until Tuesday morning.

I had come to find a healthy way to conquer my vices—smoking, alcohol and over-eating. Of the three, smoking is my “Big One,” and as I lay in my bed listening to the unrelenting torrential rain, I suffered the pangs of withdrawal. I could have killed for a cigarette!

On Tuesday morning, though the floods had abated, my withdrawal symptoms had not. I decided to make a break for it and walk to the nearby town of Kin Kin to buy some cigarettes

(despite the fact they are contraband at the retreat). It was a long, slow walk. I tried to thumb a lift, but the cars just sped up when they passed me. They probably realized I was an escapee from Living Valley Springs.

About an hour later I reached Kin Kin, which had also been under water the previous day. I trudged up the hill to the little general store and asked if they sold cigarettes. They did not, but I was told that I could buy some at the pub. So back down the hill I went and into the pub, where they had begun the big job of hosing out the mud and debris from the flood. Update: News From Around the World

Eden Valley Institute, USA: The staff is excited to have Leasa Hodges on their team as the administrative director. She accepted the call in September, and with her experience and mission spirit, she is a great addition to the group!

Eden’s Pathway Lifestyle Center, USA: After months of searching, the team is overjoyed to have a new home for their ministry in Reliance, Tennessee. They are just settling in and eager to reach out to new guests with the ministry of God’s healing.

Once isolated from the world because of its racial injustice, South

Africa is now a place where God’s people are moving quickly to spread the gospel through literature outreach.

Light Bearers Ministry is a key factor in this growth, supplying literature to five of South Africa’s conferences. They recently sent almost 50,000 sets of Bible study series to these five areas. In turn, the conferences are distributing this literature to the congregations in their territory.

Light Bearers produces three of its own Bible study outlines: Daniel, Revelation, and Preludes of Hope. The Voice of Prophecy Bible School in South Africa has designed a set of question-and-answer sheets to go with these outlines.

“We love the lessons you sent to us,” says Ray Zeeman, director of the Bible School, “and feel proud that we can offer them to the people of South Africa.” What a privilege it is to be a part of a worldwide church determined by God’s grace to take the everlasting gospel to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people. p

To Every Nation

Please pray for those who are going through the Bible study series.

South African pastors eagerly load up the literature to take to their congregations.
