Cashubians are known throughout Poland as hard-working and

enterprising people. They’re also known for their devotion to the Catholic Church and their distrust of outsiders. So when School by the Sea chose Kartuzy—in the center of Cashubian territory—as the location for its third language school, they knew they were in for a challenge.

No Protestant denomination had been present in the town before the language school began. Only 12 people were brave enough to sign up for classes. The workers sacrificed, giving of their own savings to keep the school open.

Now, three years later, 35 students are enrolled, and they are beginning to see fruits of the seeds they began planting when they opened the school. They began regular worship services this spring. About 20 people come every

week—most of them Adventists who are spread out among the nearby villages, but more and more guests are beginning to come.

Two of these regular visitors are ladies who began Bible studies after a stop-smoking program. When they are baptized, they will be the first Cashubian Adventists in Kartuzy. Ten other people are listening to sermons and reading books provided by the teachers.

The team in Kartuzy is praying for each of their students and praising God for the many blessings they have experienced. They ask that you pray for their ministry as well. p

that are more focused on looking good than getting fit and health food stores that tend to offer more quick fixes than healthy lifestyle choices.

CMS is sticking to God’s health plan, and they’re making an impact. They just moved their restaurant and health food store to a new building where they can also house the spa and the new fitness center. The Health Zone is not yet finished, but already the government and many schools and private companies want to pay for their employees to have access to the facilities.

Profits from the Health Zone will help support the mission’s new bilingual elementary school. The team at CMS is excited about this approach to evangelism, and they’re eager to have the new center fully functioning and helping the school and their community! p
