MilltimberSchoolandNurserystagedthemostimpressivesupportofRemembranceDay,withamagnificentdisplayofpoppies.Theschoolcametogethertoshowtheirrespectandlearnaboutthesignificanceandimportanceofthepoppy.Allofthepoppiesondisplayweremadebythechildreninacreativeprojectusingrecycledplasticdrinksbottlesandlids,undertheguidanceofMrsWebster.Theendresultwasastunningarrayofpoppiesatthefrontofourschool.AverybigthankyoutoMrsPinkneyforholdingabeautifulRemembranceassembly.ThefocuswasallabouttheimportanceofthepoppyinremembranceofallthosewholosttheirlivesduringthetwoWorldWarsandsubsequentconflicts.Thechildrenallgatheredatthedisplaytostageaminute’ssilenceyesterday,at11amonthe11thdayofthe11thmonth,whichmarksthetimeanddateoftheendofhostilitiesofWorldWarI.AcollectionforthePoppyAppealwasalsoheld.ThankyoutoeveryoneinvolvedincreatingsuchabeautifulandfittingtributeforRemembrance.Weshouldallbeveryproud.
WearedelightedtobeawinnerinacompetitionrunbyAberdeenCityCounciltonametheirgrittingmachines.Wecameupwithamountainofsuggestions,but‘SnowWorries’wasourclearwinner!Thecity’s10mainroadgrittershavebeennamedforthefirsttime–rangingfromTheGritestShowmantoSnowWorries.Primaryschoolscameupwithaflurryofentries,withfilmandsportingreferencesprovingtobepopular.
