I’m looking forward to sampling the range of food that will be available for purchase, enjoying the entertainment and catching up with families. The fesPviPes begin at 5.00pm and I hope to see many of you there to celebrate the great start that we’ve had to the year. Thank you to the P&F and parPcularly Arosha Goonawardena who, along with his dedicated commiSee, has co-ordinated this excellent community event. A reminder to parents to please supervise your children so that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the evening. SACRAMENT OF PENANCE The staff have been working very hard to ensure that the Year Three children have been well prepared to receive their First ReconciliaPon next Thursday evening. A significant event in this journey is the Parent/Child workshop which will be held this evening at 6.00pm. Please meet at the church where Fr Quynh will speak with everyone before they move across to the school to complete some acPviPes together. I encourage all members of our community to keep these children and their families in your prayers as they prepare for this very significant Pme in their Spiritual journey. THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

TheYearFiveshavestartedtheyearoffwithgreatenthusiasm!ThechildrenhaveparPcipatedinnewandexciPngacPviPesalready this term including,designingasockpuppet theatre that theywillpresent totheirpeersattheendofterm.ThechildrenhavewriSenascriptintheirgroupsandareworkinghardtodesigntheirownsockpuppetandbackground.

In History, the students have started looking at the topic of penal colonies including the Swan RiverColonyandhowitwasafreecolonybeforeintroducingconvictstothecolony.Theyhavelookedatthedifferencesbetweenlivinginthe1860sandlivingintoday’ssociety.InArt,thestudentswerealsoabletodepict different famous Swan River Colony pictures in their own drawings where they sketched thepictureandusedblackoilpasteltodefinethelinesandusedcolouredpencilstogiveitcolour.

InGeography,thestudentshavealsobeenresearchinginformaPonabouttheAboriginalculturalPestothe Swan River and how there are nowmany links to the culture in the new urban development ofElizabethQuay.WehopetogainmoreknowledgeofthesePeswhenwegoonourexcursiontoElizabethQuayandStMary’sCathedrallaterintheterm.
