District Courts The court handled probation revocation and cases of contempt. Pasconnil Blakey, 35, St. Paul, MN, pled guilty on February 24 to Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Blakey was sentenced to one day in jail, assessed a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative Surcharge, $10 DARE, and $60 in costs. Deion Shivers, 21, Eagle Grove, pled guilty on February 23 to Assault (pled from Domestic Abuse Assault 1st Offense) and Interference with Official Acts. Hunter Education Class

The Wright County Conservation Board will be sponsoring a Hunter Education class Tuesday & Thursday, March 14th & March 16th from 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. The field day will be Saturday, March 18th from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. All classes will be held at the Enclosed Shelter House at Lake Cornelia Park. Students must attend all three sessions to become certified. Included in the training will be gun safety, information about firearms and ammunition, wildlife management, ethics, and laws. According to Iowa law, anyone born after January 1, 1972 is required to have 10 hours of hunter education training to buy a hunting license.

Upon completion of this course, students will receive a certificate showing that they have completed all requirements, which will allow them to purchase their hunting license in Iowa and almost all other states and provinces. The class is free but limited to 35 students. Lunch will be provided for Saturday’s class. Students must be at least 11 years old to take this class. Students MUST pre-register online for this class.
