Directions For Use

1) It is a violation of Federal Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.

2) Do not use after Expiration D~te.

3) Do not allow Actril- to mix with alkaline substances such as bleach (Sodium hypochlorite) or other oxidizing agents.

4) Use AAMI Quality Water for Hemodialysis in making dilutions.

• .., DIRECTIONS FOR BROAD SPECTRUM DISINFECTION

1. For broad spectrum d1s1nfect10n of 1tems such as plastic d1alyzer caps, remove any obvious debr1s or organ1c mater1al from the surface to be d1s1nfected. Th1s can often be Icca.p11shed by r1ns1ng w1th pur1f1ed water (e.g. de10n1zed), mechan1cal act10n, or by detergent cleaning fol­lowed by a water rinse.

2. Immerse the item to be d1s1nfected in sufficient volume Of undiluted Actr11- Cold Ster11ant Solution to cover the item and/or where appropriate by filling all passages requiring disinfection. Hold 1tem 1n contact with the disinfecting solution for a minimum of 10 minutes at 20°C temperature (68°F).

3. Remove items after 10 minutes and rinse with purified water until effluent shows acceptable levels ~hen tested with Actr11- Residual Test Strips. If cap is to be used on a dialyzer, DO NOT r~nse. Place directly onto dialyzer.

4. The solution may be used and reused for up to 30 days in a manual system with 10 minutes immersion.

5. For tuberculocidal activity at 20°C with unused solution, imme~se compl~tely for 10 minutes. Remove items and rin~e thoroughly.

DIRECTIONS FOR STERILIZATION

1. Remove any obvious debris or organic material from the surface to be sterilized. This can often be accomplished by rinsing with AAMI Qu-'ity Water for Hemodialysis or b, detergent cleaning followed by a water rinse.

2. Immerse the item to be sterilized in a sufficient volume of undiluted Actr1l- Cold Ster11ant to cover the item and fill all passages. requiring sterilization. Hold in the sterilizing solution for a mini­mum of S~ hours at a temperature of ZO·C (68°F).

2. Apply a freshly made SOX dilut10n of Actril-, made us1ng pur1fted water, to the surface or immerse 1tems to be san1tlzed ln the solution. Allow 5 m1nutes of contact t1me. Let a1r dry or rlnse w1th purl fled water, dra1n excess 1f poss1ble and allow to a1r dry.

3. Product may be applied by cloth, map or sponge.

4. May not be reused as a cleaner sanlt1zer.

KIDNEY MACHINE DISINFECTION

General directions for use are listed below. Directions for specific dialysis machines are given in the package insert.

1. Use undiluted Actril· to disinfect the concentrate/dialysate pathway. The machine will proportion and dilute Actril· (35X or 44X) for proper dis1nfect10n. Use Actr11- Ind1cator Test Strips at the dra1n discharge to ensure f111 of the machine. Consult package insert for the volumes and dwell t1mes requ1red for each specific dialys1s mach1ne.

2. Use the appropriate d11ution of Actril- to d1sinfect the water inlet path of the dialysis machine. Use of this higher concentration through the water 11ne allows disinfection of the entire ~ystem including the •

water supply lines. Use Actril· Indicator Test Strips at the drain dis­charge to ensure that the machine h~s been filled with dis1nfectant. Consult package 1nsert for the d11ut10n levels. volumes and dwell t1mes requ1red for each specific dialysis machine.

3. After the appropriate dwell t1me of Actr11· in the machine, rinse the mach1ne with AAMI Quality Water. follow1ng directions. Test drain effluent with Actril· Residual Test Strips to ensure complete rinse of the machine to a maximum of 10 ppm.

4. Actril· Solution is recommended for decontaminating single pat1ent and mult1pat1ent hemodialysis delivery systems. It is an effect1ve d1s1nfectant. However. Actril- Solut10n may not totally eliminate all vegetat1ve microorgani~s 1n hemod1alysate de11very systems due to their construct10n and/or assembly and the poss1bility of recontamination by the 1ncom1ng water. Actril· used according to the direct10ns will reduce the number of microorgani~s to an acceptable level. Actril~ should be used in a disinfection program which includes bacteriological monitoring of the entire hemodialysate delivery system.
