PresentationCongratulations on your recent purchase of a BEUCHATregulator and thank you for tour support. BEUCHAT regu-lators, manufactured with corrosion resistant materials, use the most modern techniques for optimum air delive-ry and comfort during the dive. Diving regulators deliverair at current ambient pressure upon demand. The use ofregulators requires proper training by a certified agency.IMPORTANT :The use of regulators in sport diving is limited to depth of120 feet / 40 meters. This depth limit can be extended to150 feet / 50 meters, for professional use. To exceed theselimits may lead to high risk situations (narcosis, etc..).

1 > USE :A regulator must be used in combination with a pressuregauge. The regulator can mounted on a diving cylinder ineither of two configurations :• Yoke connector (up to 3000/3300 psi / 200/230 bars)ISO/DIS 1209-1 : 1998• 200/230 and 300 bars DIN connector (up to 3000/3300or 4400 psi) ISO/DIS 1209-2 & 3 : 1998WARNING : This regulator, complying with EN 250, isnot intended for more than one diver to breathe from at

the same time.If this regulator is configured and used by more than onediver at the same time, then cold water and breathingperformance may not fulfill the requirements of EN 250.

RECOMMENDATIONS :A regulator will offer optimum performance in the follo-wing situations :• Water temperature between 50 F to 95 F.• Air supply must be conform to the breathing air standard. • BEUCHAT regulators are equipped with low pressure(LP) ports of 3/8" and high pressure (HP) ports of 7/16".Buoyancy compensators LP hose and drysuit hose can beinstalled on available LP ports. The pressure gauge needsto be installed on the HP port. For added security, the useof a cylinder with dual outlet valve (Y-valve) will allow fora secondary back-up regulator.

2 > MAINTENANCEA > BEFORE THE DIVE :Please note that the procedures outlined below do notapply to cold water regulators which requires specific pre-paration and use.• Remove the dust protector and install the first stage on

the valve by tightening the yoke screw or DIN kit (do notover tighten).• Open the valve completely and check the cylinder pres-sure on the pressure gauge.• Purge the second stage by depressing the purge buttonfor a few seconds to ensure proper air delivery.• Put the 2nd stage in Dive mode (Except VS)

Venturi + and Sens. Adjust. knob open• Take several inhalations on the second stage while onthe surface before starting your dive.B > AFTER THE DIVE :• Close the cylinder completely (turn off the valve).• Remove any residual air from the regulator by purging thesecond stage (depress the purge button).• Remove the regulator by unscrewing the yoke DIN connector.• After drying the dust cap, replace it over the yoke retainer(Do not blow high pressure air directly on the regulator filter toprevent humidity from entering the high pressure chamber).

3 - CAUTION• Do not leave your regulator exposed to direct sunlightwhen possible.• Do not use the regulator first stage as a handle to carrythe cylinder.

• After every dive quickly remove the regulator from thecylinder to preserve it from any shock damage.• In every case always handle your with care.A > CLEANINGAfter the dive your regulator should be cleaned with freshwater. Before rinsing your first stage, make sure the dustcap is in place.BEUCHAT recommends the use of cleaning/desinfection product(cold process) for the destruction of the germs on regulators.B > STORAGE :After the regulator has been rinsed and dried, store it ifpossible by hanging it by the first stage yoke, away fromheat and direct sunlight. When storing it for an extendedperiod of time, select a dry cool, clean place, and apply tothe hose and first stage silicone spray approved for usewith diving equipment.C > CHECK-UP AND REPAIRS : Regulator will provide optimum performance only if usedproperly and inspected regularly. Normal wear parts suchas diaphragm, seat, exhaust valve, o'rings, mouthpiecemust be inspected and changed regularly. Every year, pre-ferably before the start of the diving season, the regula-tor must be taken to a BEUCHAT authorized technicianfor annual service.

The VX 80 & VX 80 Iceberg regulator is composed of a balanceddiaphragm first stage and a VX 80 or VX 80 Iceberg balancedsecond stage with Venturi adjustment (Dive mode).

A > V8 First stageThe balanced diaphragm V8 first stage reduces the high pressu-re air in the cylinder to an adjustable intermediate pressure of9,6 bars (145 PSI) above ambient pressure. The first stage is

balanced and delivers air at constant pressure even as the pres-sure decrease inside the cylinder. A low pressure hose links thefirst to the second stage. The first stage features four 3/8" LPports and one 7/16" HP ports.

B > VX 80 and VX 80 Iceberg second stageThe VX 80/VX 80 Iceberg second stage is a pneumatically balan-ced second stage, witch offers optimum ease of breathing. Anadditional adjustment allow the diver to fine tune the Venturieffect to the dive / diver conditions. A specially designed frontcover offers maximum protection to the diaphragm and minimizesthe side effect of strong currents. The second stage comes fromfactory with adjustment Venturi lever in the minus position.

C > Venturi leverThis lever, located on the side of the second stage Housing, enablesthe diver to control the inhalation Venturi effect. When on the +position, the diver get maximum Venturi assistance upon initialinhalation, the air flow is maintained without additional effort.

Important : On the surface to avoid any free flow resultingfrom surface waves and / or sudden entry in the water , thediver should keep the lever pushed towards the front in the - /minus position. This position should be maintained wheneverthe second stage is used as an octopus for a safe second stage. At the beginning of the dive, the diver should push the Venturilever in the + / plus position, to obtain optimum breathing cha-racteristics. The + / plus position is the "dive mode" position.

2 - COLD WATER USE Use of regulators in water temperature colder than 50 F / 10° C,requires special equipment and precautions.Only the VX 10 Iceberg, VX 80 Iceberg, VX 200 Iceberg and VR 200Iceberg should be used in cold water diving.1. Make sure that your air supply meet the EN 12021 quality normrequirements.2. Use a cylinder with a dual outlet Y-valve and two independentbreathing system outfitted for cold water use.3. Do not expose the regulator to cold air (colder than 32 F / 10°C).Place the regulator first stage in the cold water to bring its tempe-

rature up before use.4. Do not purge the second stage outside the water to avoid free-zing incidence.5. During the dive : do not purge unnecessary demands on yourregulator, i.e. avoid using all at once the regulator, the octopus, theBC power inflator and the dry-suit valve. do not purge the regulatorunless required.6. If the regulator were to freeze up accidentally and therefore freeflow, switch to your second breathing system and abort the dive.

WARNING : Cold water diving requires special equipment andtraining. Failure to follow the above instructions and recom-mendations can result in serious injury or death. Certified ins-truction should be received and completed for cold water andice diving from a certified instructor by a recognized trainingagency prior to attempting any cold water or ice diving.

VR 200 NITROX SPECIFICATIONSEN 144-3 230/300 bars - 3300/4400 psi (Réf. : 316 908)

The VR 200, VRT 200, VR 200 Iceberg and VR 200NITROX regulator are composed of a balanced diaphragmfirst stage with swivel and a VR / VRT / VR Iceberg / VR

NITROX balanced second stage with Venturi (Dive mode)and sensitivity adjustments (except VRT).

A > V200 First stageThe balanced diaphragm V200 first stage reduces the highpressure air in the cylinder to an adjustable intermediatepressure of 9,5 bars (145 PSI) above ambient pressure. Thefirst stage is balanced and delivers air at constant pressureeven as the pressure decrease inside the cylinder. A lowpressure hose links the first to the second stage. The firststage features four 3/8" LP ports and two 7/16" HP ports.

B > VR / VRT / VR Iceberg / VR NITROX second stageThe VR / VRT / VR Iceberg / VR NITROX second stage area pneumatically balanced second stage, witch offers opti-mum ease of breathing. An additional adjustment allowthe diver to fine tune the Venturi effect to the dive / diverconditions. A specially designed front cover offers maxi-mum protection to the diaphragm and minimizes the sideeffect of strong currents. The VR / VRT / VR Iceberg / VRNITROX second stage comes from factory with adjust-ment knob (except VRT) and lever in the minus position.

C > Venturi leverThis lever, located on the side of the second stageHousing, enables the diver to control the inhalationVenturi effect. When on the + position, the diver getmaximum Venturi assistance upon initial inhalation, theair flow is maintained without additional effort.

Important : On the surface to avoid any free flow resul-ting from surface waves and / or sudden entry in thewater , the diver should keep the lever pushed towardsthe front in the - minus position. This position should bemaintained whenever the second stage is used as anoctopus for a safe second stage. At the beginning of the dive, the diver should push theVenturi lever in the + / plus position, to obtain optimumbreathing characteristics. The + / plus position is the "divemode" position.

D > INHALATION RESISTANCE (Except VRT)This knob, located on the left hand side of the VR / VRT /VR Iceberg / VR NITROX hosing, allows to adjust the resis-tance on the VR / VRT / VR Iceberg / VR NITROX spring andthereby to alter the initial breathing resistance. The diver

can choose any position between the minimum (turnedcompletely counter clock wise) and the maximum (turnedcompletely clock wise) depending on the conditions. tur-ning the knob clockwise will increase the inhalation resis-tance, turning it counter clockwise will decrease the inha-lation resistance. When the inhalation resistance knob is inthe minimum position, there may be a light free flow. Ifthis is the case, slightly turn the knob clockwise until theair flow stops. Or have your regulator checked by anauthorized BEUCHAT dealer.

2 - COLD WATER USE Use of regulators in water temperature colder than 50 F /10°C, requires special equipment and precautions.Only the VX 10 Iceberg, VX 80 Iceberg, VX 200 Icebergand VR 200 Iceberg should be used in cold water diving.1. Make sure that your air supply meet the EN 12021 qua-lity norm requirements.2. Use a cylinder with a dual outlet Y-valve and two inde-pendent breathing system outfitted for cold water use.3. Do not expose the regulator to cold air (colder than 32F / 10°C). Place the regulator first stage in the cold waterto bring its temperature up before use.

4. Do not purge the second stage outside the water toavoid freezing incidence.5. During the dive : do not purge unnecessary demandson your regulator, i.e. avoid using all at once the regula-tor, the octopus, the BC power inflator and the dry-suitvalve. do not purge the regulator unless required.6. If the regulator were to freeze up accidentally and the-refore free flow, switch to your second breathing systemand abort the dive.

WARNING : Cold water diving requires special equip-ment and training. Failure to follow the above instruc-tions and recommendations can result in serious injury ordeath. Certified instruction should be received and com-pleted for cold water and ice diving from a certified ins-tructor by a recognized training agency prior to attemp-ting any cold water or ice diving.

Note :• The V200 first stage 3/8" LP ports can accommodatethe safe second stage octopus and the buoyancy com-pensator LP hose and / or drysuit inflator hose.

• On the 7/16" HP port, install a pressure gauge to checkair supply during the dive.• A 3000/3300 psi DIN and 4400 psi DIN connection kitcan be installed on the V200 first stage by a BEUCHATauthorized dealer.• A 3000/3300 psi DIN to yoke adapter is available underref. #16740 to allow the mounting and the use of a DINregulator on a standard K-valve cylinder.

3 - NITROX USE• The use of NITROX regulator requests a specific“NITROX Diver” training.• NITROX regulator must be fitted on NITROX tank withM26x2 connexion (EN144-3 Standard).• Check the pourcentage value of your NITROX mix andconduct your dive with its max depth restriction.• The BEUCHAT NITROX regulators are compatible withOxygen 100% (i.e. for 3m and 6m deco stops use).• NITROX markings and colors (Yellow and Green) arespecific identifying elements of a NITROX regulator.• Have an annual maintenance session for your NITROXregulator by a NITROX certified BEUCHAT dealer.
