Notes from Dave,
December 2019 Volume VII Issue 12
First Baptist Church of Smithville
December, so much to do and so little time to do it.
-Church events are all very important. We don’t want to miss any of them. -Family shopping and holiday events at school keep us busy. -Holiday meals and trips to the grocery store and time in the kitchen. These are essential. - Decorating the house and keeping kids under control. -Traveling: either leaving town or receiving visits from family.
I don’t want to give up any of these things in the Christmas season, do you? A goal for all of us-Keep Christ in Christmas. My suggestion-start each day and end each day reading portions of the Christmas story in Matthew, chapters 1 and 2 and Luke, chapters 1 and 2.

“Giving Tree Donations”
Sunday, December 8 Worship, 9:30 am
Please join us during the worship service as our children help share the joy of the Christmas season.
Church Holiday Meal
Just a reminder, the winter months are now amongst us which means
it’s time to start thinking about bad weather conditions and the possi-bility of cancellations. If it be-comes necessary to cancel church services or activi-ties due to bad weather, an email will be sent out. We will try to call those that do not have email. You may also want to pay attention to the local news channels and facebook for closings.
If the Smithville School District cancels school or activities or dismisses students early from school,
all church activities are also cancelled for the even-ing.
If you would like to send Christmas cards to church members, the mailbox will be set up in the foyer of the sanc-tuary. There will also be a list of all active church members available to help you with your cards. Please don’t forget to check your mailbox each Sun-
day morning in December thru the first of January.
Join us Sunday, December 8th after church services for our church-wide holiday dinner. The meat, potatoes, rolls and dressing will be provided. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board so we know how many will
be attending. Please let us know how many and what side dish you will be bringing. There will be a donation basket to help cover the cost of catering.
Kids...Santa will also be making an appear-ance!
Inclement Weather Reminder
Congratulations!
Welcome New Deacon Andy Reed
If you have not yet had a chance to pick up a leaf off of the “Giving Tree,” there
is still time! There are still a few leaves on the bulletin board next to the kitch-
en. Donations are due by Sunday, De-
cember 8.
During the month of December, we will be taking up a special offering for CBF Global Missions. These funds will aid in providing support to personnel and their families while they serve at home and abroad.
For more information about Global Mission, there are bulletin inserts as well as donation envelopes.
Our goal as a church is $500.00.
CBF Global Missions
