McCarran operates under Federal security measures utilized by airports nationwide. All passengers ages 18 and over must present a government-issued photo ID at the time of check-in. This may be a passport, driver's license, military or state-issued ID card. International travel may also require additional forms of identification and immigration documents.

Not sure what you can bring on board the aircraft? The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has compiled a list of restrictions and prohibited items for both carry-on and checked luggage, which is available on its website at www.tsa.gov.

Federal regulations limit carry-on baggage to one bag and one personal item (i.e. purse, laptop, briefcase or fanny pack). All luggage and carry-on items must fit through the security scanners. X-ray scanners at the security checkpoint will not damage film, though film speeds 800 or higher should be hand-inspected.

Bringing your laptop computer along for the ride? Laptops must be removed from their cases before going through the X-ray scanners at the security checkpoint. Do not bring firearms, fireworks, hazardous materials or explosives into the building or aboard aircraft. It is a crime to carry a concealed weapon aboard airplanes. Passengers failing to declare loaded firearms are subject to substantial civil penalties. Never joke about firearms or explosives. All threats will be taken seriously.

Lighter fuel is hazardous material and prohibited on board aircraft in checked or carry-on baggage. Lighters, including absorbed-fuel (Zippo-type), butane, electric, battery-powered and novelty lighters, are prohibited in areas beyond security checkpoints.

Can’t fly with it? Send it home with Checkpoint Mailers. Self-service drop boxes are conveniently located just before all checkpoints in Terminals 1 and 2.

Thank You For Keeping Our Airport Safe!

All luggage, carry-on and checked bags are subject to inspection. If security scanners or checkpoint monitors can’t "see" what’s in a package, you may have to unwrap it.

Place ID tags on all your bags. Remove all straps and hooks from your luggage as they can get damaged in the machinery. Add a colorful ribbon to help distinguish your bag from others. Pack medications, passports, jewelry, camera film, important documents, other valuables, and a change of clothes in carry-on luggage. Federal regulations limit passengers to one carry-on and one personal item through the security checkpoint. Check with airlines for other carry-on policies, i.e. maximum size of baggage, surcharges.
