Not only was there offences for different crimes like murder and harassment etc. There were punishments for weird things back in 1850 down in San Diego, California at their school. They would get hit in the wrists with a leather whip for different things and it dependant on the crime what number of lashes they would receive.

THE PUNISHMENT

• Playing cards at school- 10 lashes• Girls going to boys play places- 3 lashes• Boy’s and girls playing together- 4 lashes• Telling lies- 7 lashes.• Swearing at school- 8 lashes• Misbehaving to girls- 10 lashes

Forgery means : Someone commits forgery who makes

a false document, knowing it to be false with intent.

That in any way it should be used or acted on as genuine, to the prejudice of any one whether within Canada or not, or that a person should be induced, by the belief that it is genuine, to do or to refrain from doing anything, whether within Canada or not.

THE PUNISHMENT!

Everyone who commits forgery is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years, or is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction.

There are many types of harassment. But the one we here of most is sexual.

Sexual Harassment: It is a crime when someone forces any form of sexual activity on another person without that person’s consent.

THE PUNISHMENT!!Where a firearm is used in the commission of the punishment of imprisonment for offence, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding fourteen years and to a minimum a term of four years, and in any other case, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding fourteen years.

• Sexual harassment without weapon, the punishment is an indictable offence and is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years,

• Or an offence punishable on summary conviction and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding eighteen months.

Stalking and criminal harassment: The crime of stalking/ criminal harassment can happen in any relationship & can lead to violence. It involves repeated actions by another person that causes you to fear for your safety.

The Punishment: An indictable offence and is liable to

imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years, or an offence punishable on summary conviction.

While proponents of the death penalty may cite capital punishment as a deterrent to murder, that has not been the case in Canada.

THE PUNISHMENT First Degree Murder: life sentence with no

possibility of parole for 25 years. Second Degree Murder: life sentence with no

possibility of parole for at least 10 years. Manslaughter - life sentence with parole eligibility

after 7 years.

Here in Canada there was an argument that there was a high rate of wrongful convictions.

An example of a wrongfully convicted person:

David Milgaard - sentenced to life imprisonment for the 1969 murder of Gail Miller, a Saskatoon nursing aide. Milgaard spent 22 years in prison, The Supreme Court set aside Milgaard's conviction in 1992, and he was cleared by DNA evidence in 1997. The Saskatchewan government awarded Milgaard $10 million for his wrongful conviction.

Theft- Every one commits theft who fraudulently and without color of right takes.

Or fraudulently and without color of right converts to his use or to the use of another person.

Anything, whether animate or inanimate, with intent.

To deprive, temporarily or absolutely, the owner of it, or a person who has a special property or interest in it, of the thing or of his property.

THE PUNISHMENT:

If the person is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years, where the property stolen is a testamentary instrument or the value of what is stolen exceeds five thousand dollars.

The definition of vandalism is: An offence against property in which a person damages, destroys or renders unusable property belonging to another or in respect of which another has a right of use .

THE PUNISHMENT: If anyone is caught committing vandalism the

punishment is a fine of $8,600 and a sentence of up to a year in jail.
