    Henrik Ibsen (18281906) is Norways most famous writer. He was largely responsible for the rise of the modern realistic drama. It is said that Ibsen is the most frequently performed classical dramatist in the world after Shakespeare.

    Edvard Grieg (18431907) is internationally recognized as one of the worlds best composers. Many consider his music an essential element in Norways national identity.

    Edvard Munch (18631944) is considered Norways greatest painter. He played a vital role in the development of Expressionism in modern painting.

Start with a city walk through Grimstads cobblestone streets and visit the Museum of Ibsen, where the author lived and wrote while an apprentice to the local pharmacist.Leave Grimstad and head for the west coast of Norway, driving to the picturesque town of Lillesand and Kristiansand, a city with a small-town feel. Reboard coach in Gudvangen village and drive the famous Stalheim Canyon Road en route to Bergen, Norways second-largest city.
