Sports Day – Monday 11th July The postponed Sports Day was held at Springfield Park Monday 11th July. What a spectacular day of fitness and fun! Along with the regular sprints and relays, the children really enjoyed the new water bucket relays and volleyball, especially with water balloons. We tried to avoid the predicted rain on Friday 8th July and, of course, the rain came and found us anyway – just before the long distance races. After that soaking, we were treated to a phenomenal display of long distance running. So strong were Green team’s runners this year that they overtook Red team and took first place in the house points competition. CONGRATULATIONS GREEN TEAM! Congratulations to Mr Gil for organising a really fun day. Thanks to all the staff and parents who supported the children to make Sports Day so wonderful this year. Mr Gil said: “it was a success because I have the luck to plan it with a wonderful bunch of kids that always try their best and made of Monday 11th July a day I will always remember in my life.”

Green Team – Champions Prize Trip to Frinton – Thursday 14th July “Yesterday Green Team went to the seaside. It was a really fun experience for the whole of Green Team to go on. Everyone was provided with a school packed lunch. We travelled by coach. It took two hours to get there. When we got there, some people got changed into swimsuits. The children weren’t allowed to swim, however they were allowed to paddle but no further out than the adults in the water. Lots of children tried to build the biggest sandcastle ever. Mr Cody brought supplies, like buckets, spades, beachballs and more! After all of that, the children got changed back into their dry clothes. It was quite a long walk back to the coach, but eventually we got there. On the way back some people had a little nap. As soon as we reached school, the children went back home.” – Tamanna (Russia). “I had fun in the sea but the sea was as cold as the top of a mountain.” – Unique (Bangladesh). “I had lots of fun playing football and it was very cold in the sea.” – Yusuf (Bangladesh) Thanks to all the staff who took Green Team on this wonderful trip.

Summer Fair – Saturday 16th July What glorious weather we had for this year’s fair! Sun-drenched from beginning to end, we introduced loads of new rides this year, along with old favourites like Bungee Fly. Hot new favourites were ‘Last one standing’ and ‘Crazy Golf’. The food was delightful and we were so pleased to see so many members of our community come and enjoy themselves. Thanks to Shaida and her team for organising this special day.

e-Safety – Pokemon Go

The latest online craze has hit mobile devices this week in the UK – Pokemon Go. A super-exciting re-boot of the Pokemon game, it has been hitting the headlines across the world. Aimed at children over nine years old, there’s lots of fun to be had catching Pokemon in your local area. However safety concerns have also been raised, particularly about the possibility of meeting strangers playing the game and also playing the game near busy roads. For more information, see this item on Newsround - http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/36784835 . The most important thing is to have an open dialogue with your child about playing this fun new game, so they get the most from it. If there are any areas of e-Safety you want to know more about, please feel free to discuss it with Mr Braune, your child’s teacher or one of the school’s leader.
