Seabreeze Cottage is owned and operated by Mike and Andrea Bayer who welcome you to come and stay at their little piece of paradise.

Mike and Andrea met over 10 years ago and have been married for 8 years. They have two young girls, Arya and Isla.

They both have a love for travelling, sailing and building their business, Sea Breeze cottage.

Mike and Andrea bought Sea Breeze Cottage in the Fall of 2010. They loved the location that isnt too far from the major cities.

However, the absolute selling feature for them was the beautiful, sandy waterfront that is so rare on Lake Ontario. Being able to watch the stunning sunrises

  • THE REAL PRINCE EDWARD & NORTHUMBERLAND...Northumberland County is home to rolling hills and some of Canada's most scenic countryside, Take a drive or opt for two wheels and immerse yourself in photo-worthy landscapes. For the avid cycler or hiker, the Trans Canada Trail and Waterfront Trail offer 19 different options for adventure. The trails offer winter wonderland fun, too, for skiers, snowshoers, and snow mobile riders. For those looking to relax, dust off the fishing rod and take advantage of Lake Ontario's teeming waters. You'll find Bass, Muskelunge, and Walleye in Lake Ontario and nearby Lake Rice. Ganaraska River is another great option, especially for Salmon and Trout. And just a few minutes away from Lake Ontario is Ste. Anne's Spa, an all-inclusive resort comprised of an 1858 stone inn and garden cottages across 400 acres of land. From classic massages and facials to deluxe spa bundles and group retreats, Ste. Anne's has something for everyone. And who can resist Lake Ontario's historic Apple Route, which, for 200 years, has been a symbol of the region's rich agricultural history that brought both prosperity and continuity. All along the Route youll be delighted by beautiful views, orchards for apple picking, corn mazes, and a host of popular dining attractions including bakeries and cafes.

Just to the east of Northumberland lies Prince Edward County, a unique island community easily accessed by multiple bridges. The island is most well-known for its sailing community, fishing, and giant, picturesque sand dunes. Like Northumberland, a drive through Prince Edward's winding country roads won't disappoint. You'll make your way through historic villages and quaint towns, through vineyards and farms, and find along the shores of Lake Ontario and Bay of Quinte a bevy of artist studios and antique shops. In recent years, Prince Edward County has become a top culinary destination with wineries, craft breweries, organic farms, and an excellent selection of cafes, bakeries, and restaurants. And you simply can't forgo a trip to the Sandbanks Provincial Park. As the worlds largest freshwater sand bar and dune system, Sandbanks feels like an escape from the ordinary. Spend the day tanning along soft, white sand shores, or kayaking through sparkling shallow waters. Whatever your adventure, Prince Edward and Northumberland Counties are just the destination. We fell in love with the surrounding area and Lake Ontario when we bought Sea Breeze Cottage in the fall of 2010, and haven't looked back since. The view of the lake and stunning sunrises still take our breath away, and we're happy to share our slice of paradise with you.

  • 5 EXPERIENCES YOU CANNOT MISS...Sandbanks Provincial Park has quite the notable claim to fame: It's the world's largest freshwater sandbar and dune system. And that makes for one heck of a beach day. Swim in the crystal waters, some of which can get pretty shallow, and soak up the sun on white sand shores as the waves lap up. If you can get out on the water, there are plenty of walking trails to enjoy and some exceptional opportunities for bird watching.

While the beaches may be the main draw come summer, the area is full of gorgeous fall foliage during chillier months. Presquile Provincial Park is one of our favorite places to see the leaves redden or turn golden yellow. With about 300 campsites and more than 2 kilometers of sandy beach, Presquile is just the place to immerse yourself in nature. It's also home to Ontario's second-oldest operating lighthouse.

Indulge in a day of relaxation and pampering at Ste. Annes Spa. Book a day spa package that includes lunch and afternoon tea as well as a spa treatment. The spa includes a pool, outdoor hot tub, eucalyptus steam room, and beautiful grounds with walking trails and a wonderful relaxing ambiance. Extend the relaxation and book an overnight stay for the ultimate pampering experience.

Sightseeing...Drive the historic Apple Route along Highway 2 starting in Port Hope. You'll travel through the towns of Cobourg, Grafton, Colborne, Brighton, and Trenton. The prime time for driving the route is during the apple harvest in the fall, but this route can be enjoyed year round with stunning views of Lake Ontario, roadside markets, and craft stores. Be sure to check out The Big Apple in Colborne for fresh pies and attractions.

Tasting Tours...Northumberland and Prince Edward are home to wineries, breweries, and artisan food makers galore. Delight in a Winery & Cheese Tour in Prince Edward with stops at Black River Cheese, Waupoos Winery, Del Gatto Estates, and County Cider Company. In Northumberland, beer, chocolate, and cheese take center stage with stops at Church-key Brewery, Worlds Finest Chocolate, and Empire Cheese.

  • Northumberland... Starting in Colborne. Get up early which means really early for a sunrise hike at Presquile Provincial Park - you won't regret it! Afterwards, head to the Big Apple for some morning baked goodies or to Grafton Village Inn for breakfast. Then drive to Cobourg where you can enjoy shopping, and an afternoon at Victoria Beach. Follow that with dinner at The Corfu Grill in Cobourg before making your way towards Port Hope via Primitive Designs for really unique shopping. Finish the evening at a drive in movie.

    MIKE & ANDREA'S TRIP SUGGESTIONS...

Prince Edward... Grab breakfast goodies, pack a picnic and head off for a morning of wine tastings at one of the many wineries in the Picton area. Then enjoy a relaxing lunch at Waupoos Winery - it is fantastic! Spend the afternoon at the famous Sandbanks Provincial Park and swim and sun to your hearts content. Follow that with a wonderful dinner on the patio at Lake on the Mountain Inn. Then drive to Bloomfield for dessert at Slickers Ice Cream (homemade ice cream with unique flavours). Take in a drive in movie to end the evening!

FOR THE KIDS (& the kid in you!)...

Ganaraska Tree Top Trekking...Located 30 minutes north of Port Hope this tree top trekking experience is so much fun! Courses are at various heights and range in difficulty from beginner to expert. Kids have to be 9+ years and min 55" tall.

Cobourg Beach & Splash Pad...Known as Victoria Beach, the area is home to a splash pad, playground, and beautiful white sand beach. Plenty of eating options nearby and a boardwalk which you can meander along with your snacks!

Drive in Movie...Who doesn't like a drive-in movie experience?! We have 2 options close by - one at Port Hope and the other at Picton. Pull up the car, order your popcorn and watch on the big screen. Check the times as it's seasonal.

The Big Apple in Colborne is a tourist spot for the apple enthusiast. A restaurant, bakery (watch the pies being made), petting zoo, mini putt and a really huge apple with observation deck! Or the National Airforce Museum of Canada in Trenton or the Canadian Firefighters Museum in Port Hope (both entry by donation).

2 DAY TRIPS FOR THE FAMILY...

  • OUR FAVORITE RESTAURANTS...

Lake on the Mountain Resort is home to The Inn, a dining establishment located in a historic general store circa 1796, on the shore of beautiful Lake on the Mountain overlooking the Bay of Quinte 200 feet below. Serving both lunch and dinner, many of its dishes are made with produce from the resort's gardens and local farmers.

Capers Restaurant is located in the town of Campbellford, roughly a 30 minute drive away. It's certainly worth the trip. You have the choice of a period style interior restaurant, or the outdoor patio. Some great fresh salads and daily specials. The appetizers are varied, from steak to pasta and curry! Also some good beers on tap.

Zye's Fryes is a yellow 1950s truck parked at Twindmills Market in Colborne. Grab a seat on the wooden deck and enjoy a delicious order of french fries, poutine, or sandwich on a summer day. The menu offers a wide variety of American-style foods like the classic cheeseburger, Philly steak sandwich, or ball-park hot dog.

Open for breakfast and lunch, the restaurant at the Grafton Village Inn is a calming venue for a pleasant meal. Dishes exemplify the best of fine French-Canadian cuisine, with a wide array of vegetarian options. Start your day with thick, apple-stuffed French toast, or lunch on Tourtiere, a traditional meat pie.

In recent years, the culinary scenes of both Northumberland and Prince Edward Counties have exploded. Options range from sophisticated fine dining to hearty, classic pub food to serene cafes with sweet and savory options to accompany fine coffees and teas. These are just a handful of our favorites across several of the area's villages and towns.

  • Sea Breeze Cottage...Sea Breeze is an idyllic 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom waterfront cottage on the shores of Lake Ontario. Provincial Park parking pass included to enjoy Presquile and Sandbanks Provincial Parks.Visit this Website to Find Out More...

MIKE & ANDREA'S TIPS ON WHERE TO STAY...

The Woodlawn Inn...This Inn comes with a #1 rating on TripAdvisor for B&B's in Cobourg. It's easy to understand why! Although the hotel opened in 1988, the building dates to 1835, so retains an elegant style. With 20 rooms, the hotel feels intimate and individual. It also features free WiFi throughout, and a good restaurant with some great wines and craft beers. The harbour area is an easy walk at less than a mile away.Visit this Website to Find Out More...

MIKE & ANDREA'S Practical InformationBringing your dog...

Some important tips to consider:1 Always ensure you pack a spare towel, bottled water and a bowl

for day trips/hikes;2 Be sure to keep your dog on a leash as there are predators big and small (coyotes / ticks) that are more prevalent in cottage

country;3 Pack extra dog poop bags for cleaning up the yard after your

    vacation!

Kitchen inclusions...If you are staying at a vacation rental property be sure to contact the owners of the property to find out what is provided in the

kitchen. For example, herbs and spices, condiments, tea, coffee, and similar other items. It is much cheaper to bring these things from home than have to buy

    them once you arrive.

Sea Breeze clothing...At any time of year, visiting locations near Lake Ontario will usually be cooler than areas

inland. It's always a good idea to pack an additional layer for any day trips out close to the water. Not only does the water temperature bring the ambient temperature down, there tends to be a "sea

    breeze" as well.
