Welcome back to all our students, families and staff. I hope you all managed to spend some important quiet and relaxing time with family and friends over the past two weeks and hopefully you managed to stay out of the traffic mayhem that is part and parcel of the Easter long weekend. Id like to begin this newsletter by thanking and congratulating all of our students who joined us in the ANZAC Day March last Thursday at the Doylo and also the staff and parents who supported the march and represented our school beautifully. I know I say this every year but our students were once again very well behaved and respectful throughout the service. The Go 4 Fun program is running in our school this term. As I’ve said in the past, any program that can educate our children, families indeed all of us, to choose a healthy lifestyle and focus on nutritious cooking has to be a great move. I look forward to hearing feedback about the quality of Go 4 Fun as the program progresses through the 8 weeks. Once again we are hopeful of receiving our free entry into the Young Writers’ Festival and I’m sure we will again have a full contingent attending. Feedback from this day is always so positive. It’s fantastic to see children straight back into the classroom routines and doing great work in their classes, even the playground routines. It’s been wonderful to see children enjoying the fact that we’ve experienced problems with our lawnmower. I’ve never seen so many of our students enjoying rolling around in the long grass and genuinely having a great time out there. I will apologise now if any children have come home with any grass induced skin rashes but, I think allergies and itches were forgotten in the joy of running, rolling and tumbling in the long grass and the unusually warm weather we’ve been experiencing this late into April and the beginning of May. Still on the playground, we’ve had a good deal of work carried out around the grounds over this two week holiday, and unfortunately that has led to some damage being caused to the lower section of the front playground with a laden vehicle getting bogged and cutting up some areas. That part of the playground is being topsoiled and the ruts levelled out and now it just needs some time to recover. For that reason that section of the front playground will be closed off for some time while the ground and the grass cover has a chance to recover and return to its former condition. On the first weekend of the holidays I managed to make it to the GOATS festival which again, looked like a huge success with quite a large number of people milling around when I was there. It was great to see so many of our families out enjoying such a magnificent day out full of fun and entertainment. I’d like to acknowledge and congratulate the Epicentre staff and their huge team of volunteers who each year work to put together such an amazing Community event. Have a great fortnight, stay safe and thank you for your continued support.
