The desert coast is the birthplace of some of the most important Pre-Columbian cultures of Peru: the Moche,

Chim, and Sicn, who thrived in fertile coastal river valleys, on the seashore, and in the dry Equatorial

    forest.

The Moche Route highlights the main architectural remains huacas (sacred sites), pyramids, and huge

mud cities, like Chan Chan, largest in Pre-Hispanic America and includes visits to the most contemporary

museums that display gold, ceramic, and textile artifacts, as well as mommies of important rulers from the

regions. All of this, surrounded by incredibly beautiful countryside.

In the middle of the country sits the city of Cajamarca, the first place the Spanish met the Incas and site of

the infamous Rescue Room for Atahualpa.

The rainforest was the cradle of amazing cultures, like the Chachapoyas, who constructed the powerful

fortress of Kulap on top of a rugged mountain in the midst of lovely wild country.
