Join us at lunchtime at the “card table” and wish a Veteran a Happy Valentine’s Day. Make a

card to send your wishes to a Vet in a nursing home or hospital. Cards will be collected and

delivered to the Bedford VA and a few local nursing homes.

Workshop Descriptions Session 1: 9:45 - 10:45 1. Flaky Pastry (Ages 8+; limit 12) Learn these tricks to make a

wonderfully flaky pie crust.: learn how to line a pie

plate and how to achieve the perfect pie crust. We will

use that crust to produce delicious cinnamon pastries

that you can make for your family.

2. Winter Sowing

(Ages 8+; limit 15) Learn how to repurpose plastic

bottles by transforming them into mini greenhouses that

can be used to grow seeds outside during the

winter/spring. No need for grow lights with this easy

method for getting a jump on the growing season.

3. Woodworking 101

(Ages 10+; limit 12) Bring a hammer and a

measuring tape. In this class, you will learn some basic

woodworking skills, how to use common hand tools and

emerge from class with a project to enter in the

woodworking department at the Fair!

4. Equine Massage Therapy

(Ages 8+; limit 15) Join us as we discuss how massage

therapy can benefit your horse. Just a few of the ways

that massage can help are to prevent injury, improve

circulation, increase range of motion and reduce stress.

Your horse will be happy you took this class!

5. Henna Tattoos

(Ages 8+; limit 15) The use of henna for body art is

several centuries old at least. Just wait until you see the

fun way you’ll be introduced to this ancient method of

applying temporary tattoos. You will learn how to

prepare henna and many different but simple patterns.

6. Slimes the Rage

(All Ages; limit 15-CBs first preference) It’s oooey,

it’s gooey, it’s tons of fun! It’s always slime time! We

will have all the recipe ingredients to make your slime

sublime. Learn to make slime as a homemade gift or for

your own enjoyment! Take the recipes home and design

your own slime using easily available ingredients.

7. Paper Making

(Ages 8+; limit 15) Learn the art of paper making using

scrap paper. Your finished paper will be approximately

5x7, with multiple colors to choose from. Make just a

few pieces or a whole dozen! Finished paper can be

used for cardmaking, scrapbooking, tags and more!

Workshop Descriptions

Session 2: 11:00 - 12:00

1. Aromatherapy Rice Bags (Ages 8+; limit 15) Learn about natural remedies, try

out essential oils and take home your own therapeutic

rice bag for soothing sore muscles. These bags are

natural heating/ice bags. Store it in your freezer for a

soothing cold pack or toss in your microwave for a few

minutes and ahhhhhh!

2. Artificial Intelligence (All Ages; no limit) Check out the National Youth

Science Day Experiment “Code Your World”. You

will learn what it is like to play Rock, Paper, Scissors

with a computer, learn about algorithms while coding

dance moves and be challenged to continue coding

your world.

3. For the Birds (Ages 8+; limit 15) What does it take to breed, train

and raise cage birds? Learn how to hand raise them and

keep your social little flyer happy and content. Can it

talk? How will it interact? From Parrotlets to Amazons

and soft-bills, which one is for you?

4. NaNoWriMo

(Ages 8+; limit 15) National Novel Writing Month

(NaNoWriMo) believes stories matter and are building

a new generation of storytellers! Join us in this creative

writing workshop where we will realize our potential to

create new worlds on and off the page!

5. Marble Run

(Ages 8+; limit 15) Marble runs make great

engineering challenges and are loads of fun at the same

time! In this workshop we will be making marble runs

complete with hills, tunnels, loops twists and turns!

6. Birdhouses (CBs; limit 15) Birds are our feathered friends. We

see many kinds of birds outside our window, and in the

middle of winter some are looking for a home! Join us

as we make birdhouses that you can take home and see

which kinds of birds flock to your birdhouse!

7. Leaf Printing

(Ages 8+; Limit 10) In this class we will talk about

different types of leaves and which tree they come

from. We will make at least 6 prints of different leaves

that you can enter in the environmental department at

the 4-H fair.

8. VP Improv (All Ages; Unlimited) If Visual Presentations have you

tied in knots this is the class for you! Join us for a zany

time where we will use a bag full of props to see just how

loose and fun doing a VP can be!

Session 3: 1:00 – 2:00

1. Think Like a King

(Ages 8+; limit 15) Learn to play the most popular game

ever invented: the game of strategy and problem solving.

Whether you are beginner or a more advanced player you

can learn the strategies that will make you a better chess

player. Best part of all - CHESS IS FUN!

2. Chicken Scratch

(Ages 8+; limit 15) Have you ever wanted to raise

chickens but are not sure where to begin? Anyone can

successfully raise chickens in their backyard. Join us and

learn all you need to know to have a happy flock of your

own with no prior experience!

3. All About Snow!

4. Frosty the Snowman

(Ages 8+; limit 15) Brrrrr! Winter is here for sure! In this

fun class we will make a couple different types of crafts.

We will use socks in a creative way to make snowmen and

then make snowflakes for a full winterscape.

(All Ages; Limit 15) …Is a jolly happy soul! Join us as we

talk about Frosty and all his friends! We will have fun with

a variety of supplies to make your very own Frosty and

several snow buddies for him to chill out with.

5. Para-cord Bracelets

(Ages 8+; limit 15) Bracelets made using nylon cord from

parachutes have been around since World War II. They are

an essential item for all kinds of adventurers, from marking

a trail, to fishing for dinner.

6. Toys for Your Pets

(Ages 8+; limit 15) In this workshop we will learn how to

make toys for birds, pocket pets, cavies and rabbits – to sell

for profit as a club fundraiser, or just for playtime with your

smaller pets!

7. Face Painting “FUNdraising”

(All Ages; No Limit) Have you always wanted to learn

how to face paint? In this session, learn the techniques and

supplies to paint faces like a pro! Be ready to try your hand

at this and bring the knowledge back to your club to use it

as a fundraiser.

8. Circuitry (Ages 8+; limit 15) Electricity, E-Textiles and Arduinos oh

my! These are just some of the cool projects you can do

when you learn about circuits. This will be a hands on class

where you will learn to use some of the newest and coolest

technology.

Workshop Descriptions

Session 4: 2:15 – 3:15

1. Just Say Cheese! (Ages 8+; limit 12) We will make and taste cheese,

discuss the basic concepts of cheese making, the

equipment and materials needed, and why cheeses from

different regions of the world are unique.

2. Flower Power (Ages 8+; limit 15) Learn to create basic shapes and

styles of floral designs – the building blocks for true

creativity. You will leave with the knowledge of how to

make an arrangement to enter in the 4-H Fair!

3. Duct Tape Mania (Ages 8+; Limit 15) Duct tape isn’t just for fixing

things anymore! Wallets, phone covers, board games,

bird feeders can all be made with duct tape! Get

creative with this hot trend. Join us for a class where

you will leave with your own duct tape creation!

4. No melt Snowmen (All Ages; limit 15) Each winter we build snowmen

but we have to leave them outside to survive in the

elements. Join us in this workshop and make a variety

of snowmen to liven up the indoors (these snowmen are

guaranteed not to melt!).

5. Living With Wildlife

(Ages 8+; no limit) Deer, coyote, wild turkey and

black bear are wildlife that live in your neighborhood.

See the double coat of a beaver and feel the weight of

bull moose antlers. Get tips from a wildlife biologist on

how to live with these critters by preventing conflicts.

6. All Keyed Up

(Ages 8+; limit 15) Come make a useful lifesaver

keychain. It is called a lifesaver because when you

unwind the colorful paracord it is a super strong rope in

an emergency. They are lightweight, yet colorful and

useful as a keychain when you are not in need of a

super strong cord!

7. Aerospace/Rocketry (Ages 8+; limit 20) It’s the 50th Anniversary of the

Moon Landing! Come learn about 4-H Aerospace

Resources for your club or just for fun. From astronomy

to rockets, there is a lot to explore. There will be several

hands on activities along with an outline with links to

resources.

Directions to St. Williams Church School

1351 Main Street (Rte 38), Tewksbury MA

Route 495 North or South: Take Exit 38, head toward Tewksbury.

2.5 miles to church school on right (1/4 mi past traffic light at Chandler St)

Route 93 North or South: Dascomb Road Exit 42 (if coming from Boston, turn left

onto Dascomb; from the North, left at end of ramp, then right at the traffic light onto

Dascomb) Follow approx 3 miles – name changes to East Street - when you pass the

Tewksbury State Hospital on the left, ball fields, on the right, the next intersection is

Chandler St., turn left onto Chandler, left at the next traffic light onto Main Street.

Church is ¼ mile on your right.

From Route 128, most direct route is to take 3 North to 495 North, and follow directions

as above.

Winter Forum is held in the church School Building. There are a series of brick

buildings – First, the Rectory, next is the Church, then an annex, and farthest from the

Church (to the far left as you face all 4 buildings) is the School. Look for the Clover!

Park in front of the School Building and enter through the center front doors. From the

main floor, turn to the left and head downstairs to Registration table in the cafeteria.
