New Business: Dan Rood from SE Career and Tech Center explained how the Center works and how it can work with Mil- nor School to offer classes for our students. Mark Bucholtz from the CTS (Control Technology & Solutions Group), explained their comprehensive energy management and facility improvement plan for Mil- nor School. Over this past year they have spent time at Milnor School looking for ways to increase energy efficiency and to use the natural gas coming into Milnor this summer. The main areas needing improve- ment; the fuel oil boiler needs replacement, destratification fans, temperature control, HVAC controls maintenance, lighting lev- els, weatherization improvements, secure and handicap accessible entrance and bus garage heating. Frye moved that Milnor School work with SE Career and Tech to offer classes for our students starting this fall, Ferderer sec- onded, carried. Wehlander moved that Milnor School accept scenario #3 as presented by CTS group at a cost of $2,205,142, which in- cludes; bus garage heating system installa- tion, new boiler system, ADA compliant and secure front entry, Fyre seconded, carried. Ferderer moved to finance this project with a 15-year fixed loan through Kinetic Leasing Inc., Kadoun seconded, carried. Fyre moved to approve the 2018-2019 District Pupil Membership Report, Ferderer seconded, carried. Special School Board meeting ad- journed at 10:00 p.m. Business Manager, Wanda Hogness Board President, Kate Mund Publish July 26, 2019 school is now waiting for the new boards to be installed. Hoeke said the boards may not be installed before the new year begins. The school is also in the pro- cess of converting the Activity Center to natural gas which is be- ing installed throughout the city. The Activity Center is the only portion of the school that will be converted to natural gas. The school district shares the cost of upkeep of the Activity Center with the city of Gwinner. Other North Sargent School Board News *Activity fees for students grades 7-12 were raised to $30 per activity. A maximum fee for a family was set at $120. Ele- mentary students will pay a $15 activity fee. * The board agreed with a request from Milnor Superinten- dent Chris Larson to send Milnor music students to North Sargent in the event Milnor is unable to find a music teacher for the up- coming year. Hoeke said she had discussed this with North Sar- gent music teacher Callie Giro- dat, who was willing to take on extra students if needed. In the meantime, Milnor will continue to look for a new music teacher. *The board will accept bids for a qualified person or firm to conduct the yearly audit of school finances. The school has been using the same entity for a few years now and wondering if a fresh set of eyes for the audit might not be a wise decision at this time. Administrator Donna Anderson will look into the mat- ter. *The board held the third and final reading of an updated to- bacco policy on school grounds. They then passed the policy. *The board agreed to an up- date of the student handbook that stated that if a student has been expelled they are not allowed on school grounds at any time, in- cluding during extra-curricular activities. *The board will hold a budget committee meeting on July 31 to finalize a preliminary budget for the 2019-2020 school year. The school plans to submit grant requests to the Foundation next year to help fund pay-ments. Sundale Colony will remove the old playground equipment.

New Business: Dan Rood from SE Career and Tech Center explained how the Center works and how it can work with Mil-nor School to offer classes for our students.

Mark Bucholtz from the CTS (Control Technology & Solutions Group), explained their comprehensive energy management and facility improvement plan for Mil-nor School. Over this past year they have spent time at Milnor School looking for ways to increase energy efficiency and to use the natural gas coming into Milnor this summer. The main areas needing improve-ment; the fuel oil boiler needs replacement, destratification fans, temperature control, HVAC controls maintenance, lighting lev-els, weatherization improvements, secure and handicap accessible entrance and bus garage heating.

Frye moved that Milnor School work with SE Career and Tech to offer classes for our students starting this fall, Ferderer sec-onded, carried.

Wehlander moved that Milnor School accept scenario #3 as presented by CTS group at a cost of $2,205,142, which in-cludes; bus garage heating system installa-tion, new boiler system, ADA compliant and secure front entry, Fyre seconded, carried.

Ferderer moved to finance this project with a 15-year fixed loan through Kinetic Leasing Inc., Kadoun seconded, carried.

Fyre moved to approve the 2018-2019

school is now waiting for the new boards to be installed. Hoeke said the boards may not be installed before the new year begins.

The school is also in the pro-cess of converting the Activity Center to natural gas which is be-ing installed throughout the city. The Activity Center is the only portion of the school that will be converted to natural gas.

The school district shares the cost of upkeep of the Activity Center with the city of Gwinner.

Other North Sargent School Board News

*Activity fees for students grades 7-12 were raised to $30 per activity. A maximum fee for a family was set at $120. Ele-mentary students will pay a $15 activity fee.

* The board agreed with a request from Milnor Superinten-dent Chris Larson to send Milnor music students to North Sargent in the event Milnor is unable to find a music teacher for the up-coming year. Hoeke said she had discussed this with North Sar-gent music teacher Callie Giro-dat, who was willing to take on

extra students if needed. In the meantime, Milnor will continue to look for a new music teacher.

*The board will accept bids for a qualified person or firm to conduct the yearly audit of school finances. The school has been using the same entity for a few years now and wondering if a fresh set of eyes for the audit might not be a wise decision at this time. Administrator Donna Anderson will look into the mat-ter.

*The board held the third and final reading of an updated to-

bacco policy on school grounds. They then passed the policy.

*The board agreed to an up-date of the student handbook that stated that if a student has been expelled they are not allowed on school grounds at any time, in-cluding during extra-curricular activities.

*The board will hold a budget committee meeting on July 31 to finalize a preliminary budget for the 2019-2020 school year. Pre-liminary budget is due Aug. 10.

*Next regular meeting of the school board is Aug. 12.
